Steroids: Prednisone / Dexamethasone / Others (Oral and Intratympanic Injections)

What's your experience on getting an injection of prednisone or dexamethasone into the middle ear? Background: - I've been taking prednisone orally for since January 19th (9 days now) and I'm finishing tapering my dosage. The prednisone works in reducing my T, but as the dosage goes down the...

Good Days, and Bad Days, What's Your Experience with Tinnitus That Keeps Changing?

Being new to this, I find that my tinnitus on some days drops considerably, but then comes back on other days. I'm not sure if it's the medications I'm taking (I'm currently tapering down on my Prednisone dosage), or if this up and down is part of living with tinnitus. Perhaps a combination of...

How Is the Level of Your Tinnitus Measured?

Thanks everyone. I guess I'll call mine a 7. I hear it basically all the time (unless I'm really focused in on work or maybe watching a great movie), but can mask it with sound machines.

Video Giving Overview of Pharmaceutical Pipeline

Yes, it's a rather old video but the point is that there's a lot of money being pushed into this research and there are very promising results in laboratory tests. The tools they have today to create a viable treatment simply didn't exist 5 years ago. In addition to the pure capital investors...

How Is the Level of Your Tinnitus Measured?

I've seen many posts where people describe the "level" of their T. Things like "8 at 4000 Hz". How is that measured, did you have a test done?

    My Intro

Guess I skipped this intro part and went right to posting in the other threads: -- 56 years old -- Got T on 12/31/16, a New Year's Eve concert. -- Only in left ear, very high pitch -- T got much worse around 1/14/17 (gradual but very real increase over several days) -- I always hear it during...

Should I Insist on Doing an MRI?

Thanks for the info. I just got done reading through the threads on Prednisone, so yes, I'll try to get that added to my treatment. Without your post I wouldn't have known to have asked for it. Thanks again.

ABR Test — Who's Had One, What Was It LIke, Was It Helpful

Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) Test is one suggested test/treatment for tinnitus. I'm interested in learning about your experience in this form of test to help me determine if I should get one, but couldn't find much detail in this form (thus this new thread). My background: -- Got T on...

Should I Insist on Doing an MRI?

Looking for advice from those of you that have been on this journey longer than I have. I'm going to see my ENT tomorrow. Saffron Cure for Tinnitus?

Wow, 21 pages of comments. I tried reading most of them and my conclusion is that it works for a few but not most. I'm day 17 of getting T from a loud concert and I have excellent health insurance so cost isn't an issue. Should I do HBOT? If I did it, it'd be at the Mayo Clinic. Here's their...

Any idea what percentage of ears "heal" over the 6 month time period. I'm only 18 days into this right now. From what I've read 3-5 days is the typical time for an ear to hear.

Seeking Advice -- I'm New to Tinnitus and Going to a Doctor for the First Time

Thanks for your advice. I'm actually going to an ENT tomorrow. Why the 6 month wait between a first and second visit. Is that just to save the expense of seeing a doctor? Again, I'm very fortunate to have great insurance coverage. I pay the first $750 each year but anything on top of that is...

Do you still have the links for any of your favorite YouTube audios? I don't think I'd be able to fall asleep to someone speaking, I'd be focusing on listening to him, but the meditation apps, isochronic tones, chanting, etc. sounds like something I'd like to try.

Maybe Success Comes in Small Steps

Just thought I share this. I started experiencing Tinnitus in my left ear after a loud concert on 12/31/17 (so just 16 days ago). Mostly I'm having trouble sleeping, the high pitch in my right ear keeps me awake. With sleeping pills I can fall asleep but I tend to wake up after about 3 hours and...
