      Cause of Tinnitus:
      Noise
This wretched ‘thing’ is such a variable and subjective condition that one wonders if any advice can be worth giving or taking on board.
We can only speak from our own experience.
Mine is a constant two toned hiss.
I am never without loud noise.
With no cure and no essential noise decreasing treatment we are forced to look for better psychological coping methods.

What helps me is deep relaxation leading to meditation.
There is a very necessary breathing technique.
Not easy to start with, but quite possible I believe once you can get the natural involuntary ‘tummy’ breathing up and running.
Your tummy will breath for you.

      Once I am ‘away’ I use auto-suggestion.

      ‘I hear it - and I’m okay.’
      ‘I hear it - and I’m okay’

Repeated several times throughout my meditation.
At various times during the day I repeat this powerful mantra.
Often times on many days I will admit that I feel anything but “okay!”
In fact I absolutely feel like shit and I ‘hate it !!’
But even so, I persist, and I have to tell you,
the ‘okay-ness’ usually takes over for me.

It is a powerful antidote to endless anguish.
      It actually amounts to
‘giving yourself permission to feel okay.’
It is perfectly acceptable to be okay,
      even though we have Tinnitus.’

A good analogy is the photographer who is trying to take a nice picture of you and says ‘smile please.’
It is very difficult to conjure up a natural smile.
But if he says ‘come on - is that really the best you can do?’ - you can often come up with a smile.

He has given us permission to smile - and so we do.
I believe we need to (try) to give ourselves permission to be ‘okay.’

      “Airy-fairy cobblers ?”
I don’t know - but feel free to give it a try.

PS - before anybody dismisses my condition as mild I will remind you that it is ‘electric shaver volume.’
