      - One of Murphy's law :/

My experiences about tinnitus treatments (mainly for people with acustic trauma(AT) induced tinnitus):

      1. Most important are first 24 hours after AT. Go to the ENT imediatelly.
      2. Corticosteroids influsions will help you (1mg/1kg of your weight, once per day, for 10 days)
      3. big doses of vitamines A, E, C, potassium, calcium, zinc, magnesium, N-acetylcysteine antioxidant (10 days minimum). BIG DOSES.
      4. Avoid noisy places, but don't be on very quiet places (for example, good is 40-50 db music or white/pink noise). Stressed hair cells have to work constantly to sail out reactive oxygen species from them.
      5. Try oxygen chamber treatment (as soon as possible after AT).

My biggest fault (in my life) was, i didn't go to ENT imediatelly, but after 10 days and my treatment was unsucesfull. Stressed hair cells usually dies 5 days after AT.

If they are very stressed, then yes. Most of them (with biggest damage) - 5 days. Those with less damage can stay alive. I red this somewhere, i try to find link and place it here. :/

I think I got my Tinnitus as a Christmas gift.

On 22 or 23 dec, I had my first tinnitus episode. Low hissing sound, I ignored until I heard a spike in my left ear.

On 26 the dec, I visited ENT specialist. He prescribed me antibiotics (amoxillion), few more medicines including additional vitamins(which I ignored during the first few days). The same day, I was happy, "oh I have medicines I will be cured , lets go to watch a movie in a theater ! :woot: ". I went to a movie theater. Though I have not noticed any change after watching movie, but after reading this fact, I regret my decision of watching movie in a theater :banghead:.

Go to ENT and try corticosteroids and vitamines, still it may help you.

Hm... 2 days after my AT i went to relatively loud pub (had cotton in ears, but cotton isn't so effective than regular earplugs) it was mistake. This made more damage to my stressed hair cells. I didnt know anything about tinnitus it those times. Now i know a lot, but...

Dont lose a hope, begin with treatment, you have chance. Your tinnitus still may disappear.

Luckily, most of the time I covered my ears with hands when I was watching movie in that theater. There were some pretty girls sitting next to me, I am sure they were thinking that I am a crazy person. o_O

I don't know what is corticosteroids. BTW, I am taking a capsule (astax, anthin, Ginseng, Biberry Extract, Pine Bark Extract , Ginkgo Biloba, Lutein, Amino acids, vitamins and minerals ), another medicine (Betahistine, Piracetam, Ginkgo Biloba and vinpocetine tablets), and Mecobalamin Extended Relase and vitamins.

But I really need to do something with my stress level. ;)

:( Unfortunately sometimes these things just happen. Also, I think a lot of doctors also do not know what to do in a situation that. In addition to this, couldnt vitamins simply be replaced by eating foods with contain them?

Of course, best vitamines are natural, but first days after T onset i prefer syntetic vitamines - stronger. In my opinion, if doctor will become ENT specialist, he should spent several hours in little room with 30 - 40 db tinnitus tones. Because most of them dont know nearly nothing about it, about how we feel, and their only answer is: "Learn to live with it." I hate this sentence.

Yes its true:( I dont know how it is in Slovakia but in Estonia the government pays very little money to the medical system so no one will care enough to make thorough examinations, buy new medications etc... the "benefits" of living in a young democracy!
