If you mean citrizine then i have just taken that pill a couple of hours back for my cold, sneezing and allergies. It doesn't affect my T whatsoever. I have had taken that pill a lot before but no it doesn't help with my tinnitus. every T is different ofcourse so who knows
PS i took citrizine 10 mg along with paracetamol 300 mg. Any idea what dose your friend took ? Can you ask her that ? And for what duration she took citrizine ?

It's possible her T would have resolved without taking any meds.

It just so happened she took the med around the same time. Who knows.

This is a nonsense story, i took citierzine whatever against allergies. It is first generation anti histamin and can even cause or worsen T.

It goes without saying: It, in many cases, can be impossible to tell what causes tinnitus, what makes it softer or louder, and what makes it vanish. The taking of citierzine and the vanishing of T may be a coincidence. It also may be temporary. Everyone is different and there is no certain way to know.

Having said that: I thank @Claudia for sharing this story. Just don't asume the results would be the same for you.

It's not really a miracle... tinnitus goes away for most people as far as I can tell.

The disparity in treatment between the west and east is interesting; Indian ENTs, apparently, never tell people to expect this to be a chronic condition.

That is very, very odd...I mean, there's no real science behind this? No KV channel, no gaba levels, no serotonin levels. Nothing...Still, glad it's worked for her and I wish her well.

many of the antihistamines exert serotonin action, actually. In fact, SSRIs were developed specifically to try to mimic the serotonin action of the first-generation antihistamines without mimicking the anticholergenic effects. That's where "selective" came from....

Hm, this is a second-generation antihistamine though and is non-drowsy, so is limited for the nervous system. I don't understand how this particular one is meant to treat tinnitus, but what can you do?

All I could find was this "In the cortex, activation of H1 receptors leads to inhibition of cell membrane potassium channels. This depolarizes the neurons and increases the resistance of the neuronal cell membrane, bringing the cell closer to its firing threshold and increasing the excitatory voltage produced by a given excitatory current. H1 receptor antagonists, or antihistamines, produce drowsiness because they oppose this action, reducing neuronal excitation.[4]"

"Second-generation H1-antihistamines are newer drugs that are much more selective for peripheral H1 receptors as opposed to the central nervous system H1 receptors and cholinergic receptors. This selectivity significantly reduces the occurrence of adverse drug reactions, such as sedation, while still providing effective relief of allergic conditions. The reason for their peripheral selectivity is that most of these compounds are zwitterionic at physiological pH (around pH 7.4). As such, they are very polar, meaning that they do not cross the blood–brain barrierand act mainly outside the central nervous system."

Quite true. I'm just glad she doesn't suffer anymore. I just wish the same could be true for the rest of us.

Anti histamine will reduce the inflammation in your sinussen, which means less fluid , and therefore less pressure on the nerves. Whether it will help you or not depends on the cuase of your T.

PT might be cuased by allergies/overactive imuunsyteem.

Yeah, personnally i always had bad allergies at the beginning of the summer, helped by meds, and no effects on T. So if the authors's friend has been cured with anti allergies meds it's probably that T was not linked with hearing dammage.
