With hope this work may lead to more accurate outcome measurements that can lead to more effective research and treatments for those of us enduring Hyperacusis, I am proud to announce the publication of the Inventory of Hyperacusis Symptoms (IHS).

Some innovations include much improved initial reliability properties (IHS = .93) over the HQ (.68), sound validity, and capacity to differentiate issues of pain, annoyance, and fear that can infer issues of misophonia or phonophobia. Additionally, the IHS can also be used to measure mental health and quality of life challenges commonly associated with hyperacusis and other auditory sensitivity issues.
