Cause of Tinnitus
Rock and roll
Hello, everyone!

I am most likely gonna be the guy who sits and lurks around, but i too am one of those with the "silent howling" as i call it. Not sure when it started, but apart from wear and tear (too many years with rock and roll), it could actually have something to do with exposing myself to high altitudes - which are well known to cause hearing problems.

My hearing is fine, thank goodness, and for the past three and a half years i have just had this low volume tone in both ears, which, frankly, was expected after exposure to loud music most my life.

However, a couple of months ago, i got a second tone, much louder and very much out of key with the first one, which has caused a disharmony in my head 24 hours a day. With that came the sleep deprivation, and .. well, you know how it goes.

So i am currently trying to read all i can about it, and at the same time working with sound generators to flexibly mask out the howling. If anyone are interested in talking about this, feel free to contact me, because my dream right now is to make some sort of pocket sized sound generator that i can take with me to bed and not have to lay for hours focusing on a certain sound (well, two, in my case).

Apart from that, no, i don't need any help as such (my shoulders are strong, as we say here), just like to read what like minded people say, and maybe get an idea or two about what could ease up those *censored* sounds.

So, if you want to talk sound vs sound as a .. not cure but relief for what we all have to deal with, i am only a message away. Helps if you are a friendly being :)

That's it, that's me. Hi! And a good day to you all!

Welcome Bo. Glad to hear that you are taking it so well and you have 'strong shoulders'. That is a good start in the T journey, being positive and relatively calm about it. The less stress, the less chance T will be a big issue in life. See you around TT and if it comes time you are ready to write a success story (which looks like you will with your good attitude), do welcome you to post it in the Success Stories forum.

Thank you. And yes, a positive mindset might not fix everything, but at least get you through the days (and especially nights). Not sure there will ever be a success story, but at least dealing with it is part of the task done. And being a (generally) positive being, i am sure i can handle this - not that i dream of a miracle cure or anything, i am too realistic for that, but at least something better than my ear "specialist" told me: "buy a radio". Sure, mate, sure ..

I could tell you some horror stories about how Denmark and its otherwise free healthcare handle us with the howling, but i will save them for when need be. Bottom line is, you pretty much stand alone, and i actually had to explain to a civil servant what it is - it is not a disease, you don't go breathe on another person and they catch it, it's a condition that you just cannot get rid of.

But enough of that. Thank you for your kind words, and if i can ever give you a mood booster back, just drop me a line.
