Cause of Tinnitus
After effect of Rubella
Hi,
I had Rubella in 1960 as a HS freshman in the spring. In June I went to the local mountains with my folks and noticed a very high pitched ringing in both ears but louder in the right. I said, "Is it really quiet here". The answer was, "completely". The specialist concluded it was an after effect of the Rubella.

It bothered me for a while but after 3-4 years I was only cognisent of it when I thought about it or told someone about it, except however trying to get to sleep if I was not really dead tired. Then it was really unpleasant.

In the 80s some convenience stores had high frequency motion detection equipment for detecting break-ins
at night and if they left them on, walking into these stores was like having an ice pick shoved through my head and my wife got to buy the soda while I stayed outside. These devices are gone now. She could not hear the ultra-high frequency but I felt it.

I'm 72 now and things have pretty much stayed the same for 53 years. I've tried all the OTC meds and I guess since things like cancer have a higher priority, tinnitus will probably have a cure after I'm dust. Now hell would be dead and still hear the ringing. :)

I have sympathy for all who are gifted with any form of this, low, high or other. At least mine is an absolutely constant ring and not a pulsation. That really would be hell.

Any and all comments will be read and appreciated.

You seem to have a pretty good attitude, towards your tinnitus. That is very important and that is what can carry someone on for the many years, when they are living with tinnitus. I agree that tinnitus doesn't get the awareness it needs. That's life and we simply need to move forward.....

Still no cure, but the fact you joined TT helps in awareness and adds to stories of how complex T really is. It helps others in knowing to cope with T a long length of time. February of this year is awareness of T.
