A pill which modulates the potassium channels temporarily to avoid tinnitus would have side effects, some of them can be classified as serious side effects. I personally don't want to risk these side effects even in case of bad T. My brain is the keeper of my personality and intelligence. I want to keep this in its origin. We all know that epilespy drugs or strong antidepressants can change things like personality in the long run.

Therefore I would prefer something like a one-time brain stimulation to reset my auditory cortex or one-time intratympanic injections with stem cells which are able to reorganize my inner ear in a way that my brain recognizes this ear is healty (all hair cells are working again) and there's no need to create these phantom noises any longer.

Possibly Potassium Channel Openers or NMDA antagonists or maybe some kind of targeted TMS. Its hard to say. Maybe some kind of epilespy drug. It is hard to predict the future.

I don't think there will be a cure for tinnitus. But in the future I believe there will be a pill you can take that will bring the volume down to a level we can cope with. Let's hope it's sooner then later.

@Cillian . Yes I do wear a masker only at bedtime it helps me to drop off to sleep. That is the only time that I wear a masker.it's built into my hearing aid.

@Cillian . I have two types of maskers one is internal and the other is external. They both give out a white noise sound. I wear the inernal one at bedtime and the external in the day . they are a combined hearing aid and masker.
