I used to be able to daydream like a mad man. Run random thing after thing in my head. Now I can't get anything going. It's like I lost my ability to daydream. Has anyone else lost they're ability to daydream?

Yes, I can only daydream in the shower. My loud high flow shower is one of the only things that masks my T. I noticed this about a year ago, it really stood out in my mind because I was taking a long shower and I realized I had not thought of my tinnitus once during that shower. It's like my thoughts were finally free to roam. Then I turned off the water and it was back to this prison.

I kinda felt like making this thread was stupid, but at the same time I thought it was very important. Thanks for replying Alue.

Glad this was bumped, I'd wanted to respond but forgot!

I feel exactly the same way. I used to daydream often, and it's essentially how I'd fall asleep at night. It felt like I couldn't anymore because my head is too crowded -- does that make sense?

But, I was thinking about it a bit more after seeing your post. In past times of extreme stress or when I am really unwell, I would stop daydreaming too. So maybe this is not unlike then. Maybe I'll get back to daydreaming. I think it might be helpful towards habituation because it will keep my brain occupied with something other than being overwhelmed by my tinnitus.

. In the same boat. I was a total daydreamer as well. No longer. It's like the last piece if my imagination has been sapped out if me.

I did this to, I'd start a movie in my mind if that makes sense.

I hope it comes back for us, if we are daydreaming about something we aren't thinking about t only.

When I close my eyes it's just darkness, no thoughts of anything.

Hi @Jake007.... Better to stay in reality with that adorable child in back of you!

but seriously, I daydream about recapturing that wonderful quietude I had two years ago.

Same here! And just like you and Tinkerbell said it's how I fail asleep unless I was terribly tired and fell right to sleep. But now the last couple of weeks I haven't used any sleeping aids, I've been trying my best to daydream again and if my T isn't bad that night it's working. But if it's loud in my head no!
