Hey all, didn't know where else to post this so I'll do it here.

So, on Monday, I made an appointment with this place: https://tinnitus-therapie-center.ch/

It's a tinnitus therapy center in Zurich. The consultation is free, and I'm interested to see what they have to say in regards to my tinnitus.

      They can do the following:
      Sounds intriguing, if anything.

@glynis I'm trying to hunt down any attachments I may have made in any posts/replies on this forum in regards to test results from doctors/ENTs. Since moving back to Switzerland I seem to have misplaced all these medical results. In particular, I'm looking for the results of my cervical spine X ray, and MRI... I'm ~fairly~ sure that I posted them here to get advice/feedback.... can you help with that?

      Ooookay...

So, in regards to the appointment today... nothing really much came of it. For someone who's new to tinnitus they surely have good information and access to some resources. In regards to treatments that they directly can offer there isn't anything we haven't heard of before. Mainly Acoustic Neuromodulation, which they offer the device for rent, LLLT, and supplements. I kind of had to laugh a little when he pulled out the bottle of Arches Tinnitus Formula.

The only thing I was interested in trying, because I've been wanting to satisfy my own curiosity about the thing, is the LLLT. The laser itself is one, probably, well known to the community; the TinniTool laser, which they actually, according to him, developed themselves.

Other than that, we're still waiting for the magic pill.. or that special treatment. Like Vagus Nerve Stimulation.

In the meantime, I've sent off an email to ARTORG Center for Biomedical Research here in Switzerland, as they are doing a tinnitus study. If anyone in the area is interested, maybe fire them off an email and see if you can get in.

Not necessarily. The one here in Vancouver was a life saver for me. The audiologist there was good at giving me important information regarding T and H, helped set me up with proper ear protection, connected me with a wonderful ENT, and helped give me masking strategies that I still use.

But I do agree. You do have to be careful.

They have way more information than a doctor does. And they are way more helpful. Even here in Switzerland, my family doctor told me to start some ginkgo biloba supplements, and is referring me to an ENT.

As @kmohoruk said, they have access to ENTs taking an interest in tinnitus patients, will help you with masking, and so on.

Well, that all depends what you mean by "bullshit technology". If you're referring to LLLT, then you need to understand that there -is- some merit to it.
Even supplements have their place. Tinnitus happens for all different sorts of reasons, and if someone is lacking zinc, then taking a zinc supplement will most definitely help that individual. Same for B12 deficiency, and so on. It's not ALL bullshit, just because you've tried it and it didnt work. Or maybe you didn't try it at all?

Ecip, does this tinnitus clinic also refer you to psychologists (if necessary)? I have made an appointment with another tinnitus specialist but she resides at the border to Austria and I live in central Switzerland, so Zurich would obviously be a lot closer. I think I could profit from a good counseling about tinnitus and separating that from some other life issues.

Ah yeah, sorry for the necropost. >_>

Possibly, but at this point I would actually not recommend this clinic... they are more about the money then patients.

If you feel the need to speak to a psychologist, maybe approach your family doctor first.
If you're looking for an ENT (OHN) dealing with tinnitus you can just google tinnitus klinik and take your pick. What I can already say is that the German doctor in Landquart is absolutely useless... stay away.

Also, since most are very ignorant about tinnitus in general, don't expect much amazing help from any of them...

Sonst sollten wir mal einen ziehen irgendwo!

btw, what tinnitus specialist are you refering to?

      I was talking about tinnitus-zentrum.ch

Where are you living? Maybe talking with you would help my anxiety, but I have to stay away from negativity at the moment, not very resilient currently.
