Are There Any Gyms Where They Don't Play Music? Or Private Little Gyms?

Hi, summer vacation is right around the corner and I want to do something to keep me entertained.

Are there any private little gyms? Or gyms with no music? Any tips?

      Thank you :)

I do not know, but you are wise to ask. There have been many reports of loud music, to the point that the instructors are experiencing hearing loss.

Have you considered a home workout? Or a swimming pool?

I do home work outs, but... the gym has all the equipment I need to get the body I want again :( So avoid the gym then?

Unless the music is insanely loud, earplugs should be able to provide enough protection.

You can control your environment at home. Just web search for the exercises you want to do since there is often a way to do it at home. An exercise ball, some light weights, exercise band among some items might be a good start?
Although I recommend workouts at home, you could call local gyms and and ask if they play music and if not, inquire about the sound level. That's all the ideas I have on that, sorry.

I think people clanging weights around might not be something you want to hear, though.

I feel you!! Home workout doesn’t feel the same as working out at gym. I don’t have the same motivation or energy to work out at home and doing all the muscle groups with a dumbbell is horrible.

I was thinking to start going to gym again (excited :p) but ONLY at midnight because the gym I go to they don’t put loud music at night, no fitness classes and there will be less people at midnight. Only thing I have to worry about is people crashing metal plates but I think ear plugs will do the job. ;p

If you’re eager to go back to gym why not try going at night. I know it sucks to go alone at night but this is the only best and safe way. Well for me at least.

It still won't protect you from people dropping dumbells and weights exploding everywhere when they let go of their bars...

It is traumatizing when you hear it in the middle of your workout and you can jump 5 feet in the air... living with tinnitus is almost like living in fear sometimes =[

Scheisse!! Now that I think about it I don’t think ear plugs will be enough to protect my ears from people smashing plates on the ground or letting their weights go. It makes such a loud sound even when the gym is packed and noisy. Imagine at night damn.

My question to fitness lovers, do you still go to gym and how do you manage it despite all the loud activities going around you or do you do home workout?

I use foam earplugs since my tinnitus started. I go three to four times a week to a commercial gym and never noticed any problems. Even when the gym is full and music is playing it rarely goes over 70 dB, mostly I measured around 65 dB. Of course there will be short impulses from the weight slamming but for that I have the foam earplugs.

@Striveon I would try to go with earplugs and see how it goes. Maybe skip the classes and concentrate on strength training :)
