Are These Good Signs?

My T has been with me for 2 weeks now and the last 2 days I've noticed some changes. First of all the overall volume has decreased. At the moment I think it is about 70/80% of the volume it was when it all started. If I'm stressed the volume gets a bit higher, but I guess that's present in a lot of people with T.
Secondly, the tone has changed. It is no longer a high pitched screech, but more a hissing sound. Like white noise.

Something which also seems to have dissappeared is hearing very high frequency noises around computers, tv's etc.

Today was the first day I noticed that when I put in ear plugs the volume and tone of my T is the same with ear plugs in as it was in the beginning without ear plugs.

Are these good signs or am I celebrating too soon?

We are all different @sven1987 but since you are new to tinnitus I advise you to take each day as it comes and to be causiously optimistic. In the early stages of tinnitus it can fluctuate a lot. Over time it will usually calm down and may even go. However, if you start to become overly confident and think that you've turned a corner and habituated, a sudden change, or spike in the tinnitus (which is possible) can bring you down to earth with loud crash and can make you feel stressed even depressed, which you don't want.

It is a good idea to keep away from loud sounds and not to use headphones even at low volume. Click on my "started threads" and read my article: Tinnitus, A Personal View, as you might find it helpful.
All the best
Michael

Your experience is very similar to mine when I have a major spike. But it sounds like your ears are adjusting and your T is going down in volume and that you're habituating to it. Like the previous person said, avoid loud noises for a while. You definitely don't want the high pitched screech to come back or be permanent.

Thanks for the comments guys! I don't want to go ahead and say this is the road to recovery, but the subsiding of my T has at least given me some hope.

Another thing I've noticed is that my T doesn't increase a whole lot more when I apply pressure to my temples or jaw.

I would say it's a good sign. People who recovered also state that their T goes into white noise. But they also say that sometimes it spikes back to the original volume. So stay positive if or when it happens.

I sometimes experience better moments and the fridge can sometimes mask my T entirely. Something it couldn't before. Then 30 minutes later it can screech in my ears like an unstoppable fork in a neverending dining plate. And I'm celebrating my 2 months in in about 2 days. So fingers crossed and hope for the best.

@Applejuice mines always been a white noise. Sometimes i get a fleeting t that is a pure tone/ring and its awful, is this kind lf sound ehat most people have?

That is great news! see how things go and take it day by day. Protect your ears and stay away from loud environments. You are at the beginning stages of Tinnitus, mine was like yours. I started with a very low tone and i was barely able to hear it. Due to foolishness, loud places and medicines....my tinnitus is way worst now and i accept it and don't fight it.

Be well....

Yes the whistling sound is very common. I have a full orchestra with ringing, a whistle left, a whistle right and a soft white noise/hiss somewhere. Constantly buzzing.

Yes...

White noise or even a hiss are an improvement over a high-pitch tone. When the sound is piercing is when it is harder to bear and to ignore...

Another update. My T today seems less as it was yesterday and I'm feeling pretty positive about the future at the moment. I'd say it is about 50% of the volume it was when this whole nightmare started.

I don't think I'm out of the woods yet, but I think I can live with it if it would only go down by a small margin yet again.
