      Tinnitus Since:
Most of my life but not bad till 11/2016
      Cause of Tinnitus:
      Unknown
Was diagnosed with tinnitus in February of 2017. Now the noises started getting really bad back in November of 2016 and looking back I've had some noise for most of my life. I have no idea what started it but I do know its getting worse.

I was in a very abusive relationship for 5 years and was hit in the head repeatedly so that could be some. The doctors just don't know. I was tried on that lipoflavonoid which did nothing for me except make feel sick all the time. Its also way to expensive so my doctor told me to stop taking it. Music doesn't help and neither does any other kind of noise. I

know some might be caused by stress but I'm sorry my life is nothing but stress and will be like that until I'm finally accepted for social security disability and I move down to live with my girlfriend. Now I'm getting that clicking sound when I open my mouth or yawn and its rather annoying. Plus I get the high-pitched sound constantly with like drummers in my ears.

Please help me if you can because the stupid ENT didn't.

      Hi kitkat74,

Sorry to hear that you have gone through such a traumatic time in your life.

Tinnitus aside, not sure why you remained in such a terrible relationship for 5 years. You should have reported abuse to your local authorities at the earliest. There is no reason to put up with such things!

Now regarding the clinical side, the best thing to do is to have your ears checked for wax coupled with an audio exam so you can get a complete picture of how well you hear.

Just out of curiosity, on what grounds will you be filing for social security disability? Maybe a better question is why do you want to file for SSD? An idle mind is the devil's workshop. By going to work every day, you will have structure in your life as well has having something to do during the day. Sure, you won't become rich at your job, but you will at least have a purpose for waking up early. Furthermore, you will be preoccupied with work and not focus on the tinnitus as much. You may seriously want to reconsider this decision!

For the time being, the best thing you can do for yourself is try to control your emotions and nervous system. Tinnitus feeds off of fear and anxiety. Also, check out this site thoroughly as there are countless questions and answers here.

Did you ever listen to music through headphones on a reguarlar basis or attend places such a night clubs or concerts often? Loud noise is the most common cause of tinnitus. l suggest you click on my Avatar and choose "started threads" read my article: Tinnitus, A Personal View, which you might find helpful. It covers tinnitus and different treatments and coping methods.
Whilst ENT doctors are not tinnitus specialists they are highly trained physcians and know all about the anatomy of ears. They treat it surgically or medically. Hearing Therapist and Audiologist trained in tinnitus managements are tinnitus specialists and you will get better help and understanding with them. Most of them also have tinnitus.
