So I live at these nice townhomes and was walking outside on the sidewalk when someone turned their car on. I was behind the car and my ear was facing the car muffler/exhaust.

I didn't even see the car as I was deep in thought about Tinnitus and Hyperacusis.

It was loud as hell and since he was coming out from the garage (see the garage is underneath the home lol) the sound bounced around the garage and made it even louder, it amplified it.

My left ear was facing the car muffler and I was close to it, tinnitus has now increased again to a 9/10.

Should I get steroids? Did I damage my hearing further? I am scared. Thank you.

Was the exhaust modified or was it just about to fall off?
Your hearing is compromised and everything sounds louder to you.
Normal exhaust in good working order should not be able to cause damage.

      Yeah, this.
Was it modified is the question to ask. A normal muffler shouldn't be a worry but some people wish to make a [loud] statement with their customized ones.

it was normal and not falling off. a new car couldn't be older than 2010.

If there was no holes in it, then it's just one of those sounds you wouldn't even register before tinnitus & hyperacusis....I don't think it can do much to you, but take NAC just to be safe.

I dont know if it had holes or not. It was just really loud and my T has increased now. I think it caused more damage. I need to be more careful.
