      Dear all,

Do we know if taking one pill of Alprazolam 0.25 mg the night before a loud noise exposure can increase the risk for acoustic trauma/tinnitus?

I have read some studies which clearly mention an increased risk when certain drugs (ototoxic) are combined with noise exposure but what about Alprazolam and other benzos?

I have found the below study which concludes that there is no additional risk from a statistical point of view... but when you read the details and look at the graphs it is not that clear:

The Effect of Alprazolam on Acoustic Stapedius Reflex Thresholds in Healthy Volunteers (nih.gov)
