I'm off to America Friday morning to help with anything needed, support I think be the best. Pretty messed up losing a child and then his wife in stage four Alzheimer's. A real handful.

I'm so sorry for this, i don't even want to imagine what losing a child feels like. It's one of my biggest fears...

One question if you don't mind.

How does flying affect your tinnitus?

 

There's probably not much people on here know about me beyond my struggle with tinnitus and ribbing @Damocles when I get the chance, but in the last 10 years I have had a series of personal setbacks and tragedies to deal with.

Divorce, career and health issues are not unfamiliar to me with the tumor and hearing loss to drive the final nail in the coffin. Throughout that time, there has been one thing that remained constant, the companionship and unconditional love from my pug, Butch. He brought me joy during some of my darkest times and never failed to be by my side. Alas, this morning I laid him to rest, as the cancer that was discovered a couple of months ago took hold. It was excruciating for me to see him in so much pain, so part of me is happy that he is no longer suffering.

Maybe some won't understand this "eulogy" but I consider it as part of my healing process because I really considered him part of the family.

Here is the last picture of him roughly 8 hours before his passing, in agony but still looking classy and distinguished. RIP, he will be greatly missed!

I'm so sorry @Guywithapug. Crying as I read your post. I think we all understand. Our animal friends mean so much to us and they are a part of our families.

I've flown 3 different times with tinnitus but, touch wood, it has never spiked. I don't use any ear protection. I put my hearing aids onto a tinnitus app. The sound from the app keeps the jet noise at bay.

The death came as a real shock. But then so did the death of our own son who committed suicide.
