      Hi!

I have now had my tinnitus (high frequency sound) for about 4 months. It suddenly appeared right after I was taking a shower out of nowhere.

But something is very suspicious about my symptoms - every night when I am lying down, my right ear (the ear I have the loudest tinnitus) gets clogged and I have to stand up and try to do the valsalva maneuver several times. My ear is so clogged that it is almost impossible to do the valsalva. It is popping in my left ear, but NOT my right ear.

And when the ear gets more clogged because of the blowing, the tinnitus gets higher... If I am not doing the valsalva at night, the tinnitus is getting so intense. In the moment I am blowing (when I feel the ears are totally clogged and hold the pressure) the tinnitus goes always up and then back to normal.

My GP said that I have to try Nasonex (Mometasone) nasal spray because of (probably) problems with my eustachian tubes.

Have you guys got any thoughts?

      Thank you!

      @Arianaj,
It definitely sounds like a nasal problem and could be down to allergies.

When you go to bed you can get post nasal drip going down the back of your throat that enters your eustachian tubes.

You might get a snotty taste in your mouth as a symptom.
      The nasal spray will help.

      Love,
      Glynis

Thank you for your answer, @glynis!

Now out of nowhere the sound suddenly switched ears, like I had the worst tinnitus (high pitched) in my right ear, but this last week the worst sound (higher high pitched) is now in my left ear instead :(

I was having A LOT of stress and anxiety last week the days before the spike, so maybe something to do with that?

Is it possible that I'm going to get rid of the tinnitus even if it is going to last for months?

Your tinnitus has every chance of going but learning to deal with stress will help.

      Ok, I guess you're right @glynis.

I also every morning after I wake up have a «swoosh» sound in both ears! Like when I yawn or swallow, I hear the swoosh sound. This is always worse in the morning. What do you think about that?

      Take care!

Sounds like air pressure as your eustachian tubes open.

So you think that the Eustachian tube plays a role with my tinnitus? Maybe I should give that Nasal spray a try!

      Thank you, @glynis :)
