Hello,

My name is Amy, I'm 21 years old and have very annoying sounds in my ears. It started with just a fairly quiet, persistent noise in my right ear from Saturday.

I saw a doctor today who looked and said because I am severely underweight that I should address that first as it might be linked.

But now randomly I have a louder high pitch persistent noise in my left ear that is meaning I can't have any peace or even sleep. I am so scared this is permanent or that there's something wrong with my hearing.

Please, what do I do? I'm freaking out and very stressed :(

I don't know what your doctor was thinking when he said that, but I've never heard of such a thing and doctors are generally completely clueless when it comes to tinnitus. Did he give a reason as to why there could be a link, like anemia?

There are several common things much, much more likely to have contributed to your tinnitus. I'm sure the usual members will chime in about this soon.

HI Amy,

Many things can cause tinnitus but the most common is exposure to loud noise, or using headphones, earbuds, headset for long durations and too high a volume. If the answer is yes to any of these, particularly if you use headphones or earbuds to listen to music, then this likely to be the cause of your tinnitus. Please click on the links below and read my posts.

All the best
Michael
