This is an old post, but I was just reading about a drug called Ibudilast that is a powerful anti-inflammatory and also has potential to relieve pain via glial cell suppression.

I was able to find one study where it was found to successfully reduce tinnitus, especially in those with high frequency healing loss.

      Ibudilast (Ketas) Treatment of Tinnitus

Is there anyone who is more knowledgeable than me who would want to weigh in on if they think this medication might be worth pursuing for tinnitus and, more importantly, hyperacusis with pain?

Giving this a bump in hopes the lack of responses was because nobody saw this :)

Anyone want to weigh in on Ibudilast’s potential to treat tinnitus and hyperacusis?
