      Tinnitus Since:
      April 2020
      Cause of Tinnitus:
Still not sure after 6 docs checked me out
I have had tinnitus for almost 2 years now during the Pandemic. I have been to specialists, primary care doctor, 3 different ENTs, etc. Nobody can figure it out and they all say "live with it, there are millions of people that have it too!" I have had heart palpitations, high blood pressure, increased blood sugar readings, pulverizing headaches, amongst other issues, I just turned 50 years old and feel like I am falling apart!

      Question: Teeth & Tinnitus?
I am almost thinking the cause of my tinnitus may be under a dental crown. The reason I suspect it is the fact when I eat chips or crunchy foods I actually get some relief and the tinnitus disappears for 1-2 minutes, but then returns again. Can decay or something like that under an old crowned tooth cause tinnitus? I am going to the dentist next week to have my teeth checked and cleaned. I do not have tooth pain, but there is a little discomfort when hard biting down in one area where I have a crowned tooth from about 15 years ago. I will get to the bottom of this problem, I am not one to give up!

I have no idea on your dental work but I am learning about the various nerves that pass near your jaw and end up at the ear. The potential involvement of TMJ, the trigeminal nerve, etc. looks like a candidate for my problems. When I chew hard food, sometimes my tinnitus goes away temporarily but my ear pain goes up. I have no crowns and no mercury but I do have one onlay which was installed 20 years before my tinnitus. You might want to explore this.

I've always wondered the same thing. Please keep us posted. A dentist did tell me about one patient who had an implant removed and whose tinnitus went away shortly thereafter.

Any info from the dentist visit? I too wonder if a problem with root canal/crown is contributing to my tinnitus.
