Update to my cranial therapy. Its been almost 2 months and I'm happy to report my Tinnitus is much improved. There are many days in the week where it's hardly noticeable.

I sleep better & wake up more refreshed. I still have spikes a few times a week, but compared to every single day, thats a great improvement. The spikes are also lower in tone, frequency & duration; lasting only an hr. or so compared to sometimes up to 12 hrs. at a time.

This wonderful chiropractor/cranial specialist diagnosed my issue as a compressed Vagus nerve; also known as cranial nerve 10. I have a very low vagal tone. This compression leads to chronic inflammation (which I have as arthritis all over my body). I had both knees replaced several years ago due to this horrible condition. He believes its causing my tinnitus to be much, much worse.

He manually manipulates my head, neck, face, temples, ears, etc. The sessions take about 30-40 minutes. I see him once a week. The tinnitus so far, hasn't gone away completely, but has changed from a 24/7 scale of #8-10 to a #3-5. That's a great thing! Will keep you updated.

That's great to hear QP; T is so unique and the treatment is equally unique. It's all about finding what's best for you and getting help from an experienced professional. I'm glad you've found someone who has knowledge of the issue; it's always best for people to make sure their practitioner knows about T and has treated it previously. I'm e-mailing some alternative therapists at the moment to find who seems to the most experienced in my area. T is a slow process but we'll ALL get better eventually. Congrats and keep us posted!

Hi Paul, Yes; it's a constant trial & error approach. I simply could not habituate due to the never-ending screeching in my head 24/7. It was making my parasympathetic insane & my anxiety was off the charts.
It has been a very real struggle to get any relief for the almost 9 years. Like most of us, I've tried many treatments with no or very little short-term success. I even tried cranial therapy before, but it was completely unsuccessful. Now I understand that particular therapist was working in completely different areas, had a much different approach and touch. I'm grateful to have found out what was making it so bad. It's not cured & I know it never will be, but I feel like I have back my life now & that's what counts for me. Thank you!

@Quiet please sorry if I didn't follow correctly, but what made you try with another therapist once again? Does the new one have completely different technique?

      Hi Asia,
At the time, I was more interested in him being a chiropractor . When I got there, his testing recommended both the adjustment & a cranial manipulation. I said to him, I'll try one time & let's see. It worked great. I had 5 full hours of complete Tinnitus relief & then it came back very slowly over the next 3 days. For the first 3 weeks, I went 2x a week. Now 1x week. Hope this helps.

Second update to my Cranial Therapy. Unfortunately, it gotten too expensive to keep up weekly sessions. My health insurance doesn't cover this treatment (of course!!!!). I am feeling the effects of not seeing him though (it's been about 1 month), so am going to try seeing him 2x a month instead.

      Optimal Health/Dr. Seth Pearl.

He has 2 offices in Westchester; Harrison & Mt. Kisco - Phone # 914-777-3200.

He was very helpful to me and is really a great person. He is expensive though, so I'm taking a break right now, as expenses are tight. Best of luck!

I'm interested in hearing more about Chiropractic help for tinnitus. I saw a Kinesiologist for about a month 3 times a week but quit when he kept cracking my neck and I ended up with a stiff neck. It's so difficult to find the right Doc. Is there a particular adjustment that helps? I'm in northern NJ so I have to believe there's a good doc in the area.
