Diagnosed with Auditory Music Disorder and Pulsatile Tinnitus, Which Becomes Worse with Migraines

I have pulsatile tinnitus. I was diagnosed by my ENT after an MRI and vascular study.

I was seen by a specialist at the Medical College of Virginia. He confirmed the diagnosis and also diagnosed me with auditory music disorder.

My PT has been raging at 8-10. It is worse with migraines. If there is a fan running or the dryer or the A/C in my car, I hear a hum. The hum is incessant and at times becomes musical scales. I hear two notes or more play, and this is along with the PT.

On occasion, the hum turns into a musical piece or song. The hum is unbearable. The music is scary.

I have moderate hearing loss and wear hearing aids but they do nothing to help the PT.

It's hard to go through this experience alone and feel like it will never end. I have read some posts which are reassuring. I am so glad I joined this group.

Hi Ann. Just some encouragement. I have Pulsatile Tinnitus as well as tinnitus.All kinds of crazy sounds.Im just past the 4 year mark.Check some of my first couple of post and you will see how bad I was hurting early on.I literally thought my life was over. Here's the good news ; It took a good amount of time, but I've never been bettter. The crazy noise is still there but I usually don't care.I cherish life and worry about a lot of things but never Tinnitus.Good luck, God bless and I know things will get better for you!

 

I just want to say I have both types of tinnitus, and I experienced crazy sound distortion that made all music and high pitched voices sound terrible. It was the worst thing I have ever been through. That lasted 3-ish weeks and went away but I live in terror that it will come back. The tinnitus/pulsatile tinnitus are still there. Such a strange thing when your senses go haywire, really messes with reality!
