I wore ear muffs in loud places for long periods (minutes, hours) for several times. They were very tight, and I had some jaw pain after wearing them. I know I shouldn't have continued to wear them.

Recently, I noticed a rumbling sound and sensation while lying down in bed on my side. I have TMJ, but I never noticed anything like this before. My jaw also clicks when I open and close it, but I always thought that was a part of the TMJ.

I already hear the ringing sound all of the time, I don't want to hear and feel this new sound. Could I have done some permanent damage to my jaw?

You need to see your dentist whom may think a mouth guard over your lower teeth will help you and relieve pressure off your jaw.
