Does Salt Make Tinnitus Worse? Sea Salt vs Table Salt?

My ear-wax build-up tinnitus spike is getting much better. I can go 2 - 3 days now without noticing my tinnitus, then have a flair up, then another 2 - 3 days.

Well, I was on a good run of my tinnitus being at the lower levels before the ear-wax spike, but then I decided to switch my sea salt I use for Morton's Iodized Table salt. Figuring that maybe, just maybe, a little more iodine may make me feel generally more healthy.

I used Morton's the first time this morning on my eggs.

And about fifteen minutes later my spike came back.

This could be just correlation of not causation, of course. But has anyone had spikes on table salt? What about sea salt vs table salt?

 

I use a little salt here & there and neither affect me but give me a slice of pizza and my tinnitus is through the roof.

Salt, sugar and alcohol ( particularly White wines ) make mine 'hisssss' much louder, soon after consumption.
My ( non-medical ) guess is they have an effect on Blood pressure and so the noise gets louder

 

mine is coffee....but i drink anyway =P

Alcohol has the opposite effect on me. I actually don't like drinking that much. One beer, here and there. But I've been drinking a lot more noticing my tinnitus immediately quiets after one beer. Wonder if different causes of tinnitus are affected differently by foods?

I miss coffee. It wasn't the coffee itself that hurt my tinnitus, but, I have high anxiety and depression. And when I'm anxious / stressed my tinnitus spikes. As much as I love coffee, it makes me SUPER hyper / stressed out. I've been off coffee for a month or so now. My stress levels are dramatically reduced, and I haven't had a high anxiety moment sense. But man, do I miss it.

 

I felt the same way at first and had quit coffee for 6 months...then came the realization that life is too short and if i can handle a 7 hour T spike while also enjoying one of the finer things in life...i might as well. Now I have 2 cups of coffee a day and pretty much my T spike is now my "regular noise" since I have coffee in me at all hours of the day lol.

lol. I figure I'll treat it like alcohol, for me. Go on a date? Breakfast with friends? I'll have a cup or glass. But no more drinking coffee / alcohol everyday. If it was just my T that was affected, I'd probably continue drinking. But the difference between my anxiety levels on / off coffee is huge!

 

We need salt just dont over use it... And make sure it's sea salt low amount....

Luckily Coffee seems OK for me.
All I have learnt is T is very odd, and is in effect only a 'symptom' of a problem, which differs ( noise trauma, anxiety, infection...) from person to person.
I couldn't imagine life without a few (N)espressos a day
I think even if these things do cause a spike that we continue to live...thats all we have.
