- high pitch hearing loss, both ears, right is worse
Hello Everyone, My name is Nancy and I woke up Feb 17 '15 at 3 am with a very loud roaring sound in my right ear. Took some of my already prescribed Lorazepan and fell back to sleep. The next three days were pure hell, especially since my husband was away in another state on business. I assumed this disruption in my ear must be a virus or something. I consider myself to be a strong woman. Been through much in my life, positive and some negatives. But this ear thing you call "T" is right up there with the worst of the worst. It has brought me to the brink of madness, crying, pacing the floor at night and bewildered as to what the hell is going on. I decided to take Ibuprofen during the day, as I am allergic to aspirin. At night, I take the Lorazepan to sleep. Sometimes I try to listen to nice music to distract the noise. I found that the rain sounds and crunching of leaves helped me when I first came down with this. I also stopped drinking my 3 to 4 cups of coffee a day and switched to herbal teas. I also felt comfort from putting a heating pad on my ear when the sound was terrible. I have since been to my family Dr and he sent me to the ear Dr. She said I have more hearing loss in my right ear, mostly high pitches and some loss in the left. They want to send me to an ENT specialist to probably have an MRI because my "T" came on so strong and from no where. She said they want to make sure nothing medical is going on that only an MRI could show. She said that I will probably need hearing aids. Since the initial February 17 disruption the sound has changed to so many different tones. I have gone from a roaring boom, to high pitch, soft weeping willow feelings, a few seconds of silence, back to low pitch, back to high, sometimes the right ear switches and briefly goes softly into the left ear. But today it seems always that when I wake up the pitch if high but soft. As soon as I get up to walk around, the volume increases. Sometimes, I just feel pressure in both ears, not so much noise. Also in the beginning of this episode, I noticed when I was sitting on the couch a "pop" sound in my right ear and the noise stopped. I thought that this was gone. Wrong. It came back in about half an hour. So as of today, I wait patiently for the next medical move and what all the experts are going to say. I may have fluid in the inner ear. It does hurt sometimes. I am glad I found this site as I had no idea what Tinnitus was before Feb 17 or how many souls out there are suffering with this. I also realized that most people have no clue to the extent or severity of this disease. I do believe that there is still much hope for a cure. I recently read that 130 million people in China are T and it was written that this has been a disease that has been overlooked for way too long.
