      Hi guys,

It's been a little over a year since I developed sound sensitivity in my ears.

Like many of you, I seem to have the problem of certain frequencies after a noise trauma accident involving an ambulance.

Little over a week ago, I went on holiday and since then (for whateever reason) , have felt that car brakes in particular feel louder than usual. This also applies to trains though..

I don't know if it means I have gotten worse but it's a weird situation, as I do not have any tinnitus, or ear pain from these noises they just feel louder ..

They can sometimes make me jump at a certain frequency too and do seem louder than usual. Almost uncomfortable .

Have I entered the dreaded barrier of hyperacusis?

      Thoughts much appreciated

      Tom

You dont seem to have H, maybe some sound sensitivity that may go away. With H just hearing the car brakes would give you very obvious pain and pressure, and with severe H you could be in pain for weeks.

Beginning phase of H was like that for me - now, the sounds actually hurt. Be careful with your ears.

Yes, I think this is sound sensitivity too. But it sucks not to be able to hear car brakes normally anymore..

I've heard of sound enrichment or TRT , are any if these good at fixing certain frequencies? For me it's the car brakes or brakes in the higher frequencies that cause me discomfort, it's quite depressing to have to run from these.

I'm usually very careful with my ears, but I try my best not to hide from sound as I understand the ears need to be around the environments you were used to previously So they can improve (with obvious caution).

It seems to me to be a regular hyperacusis. Always be ready to block your ears and don't ever go near the speakers. Get away from awful noises as soon as possible and as long as you are concerned about your ear condition, plase keep in mind that going to a movie or concerts or stadiums risks your hearing and hyperacusis.

Yes i would say so, I feel more resilient towards cars and trains. I still feel like the damage has made its mark though, certain cars still feel louder but its much more bearable.

I have coped by not using headphones, avoiding concerts snd generally avoiding extra loud scenarios.

Did you go through s similar scenario?
