My ears are clogged and there is a very faint ringing noise in my ear. I believe it is called tinnitus. I have some questions, since I'm new here, and very much scared.

      A) Could my earwax buildup be causing my tinnitus? Nothing else could have caused it and I have all of the symptoms of earwax buildup.

      B) Will it go away if I get rid of that earwax?

      C) What are the odds it will be permanent if caused by earwax?

If it's very faint with clogged ears, there's every chance you won't be able to hear it at all with unclogged ears (even if it stayed after ear wax removal).

Just don't start plugging your ears with fingers to try and look for it!

Do please come back though to report your situation after the wax has been removed.

      Have you seen an ENT?
Do not try to remove the wax on your own, you should consult a specialist.
Tinnitus can be caused earwax. If your T is caused by earxax, its removal will stop your T.
      My best wishes.

I have not seen a ENT. I plan on using debrox to get it out and see if that solves it. If it doesn't help, then I will see an ENT. Thanks for the help!

I've heard some people had spikes after ear cleaning at professionals(high pressure of water sprayed from large syringe), I'd recommend using the stuff that dissolves earwax at home.

Got better after all ear wax was removed. Now it's off and on, and is only audible when I think about the noise. Is it just my mind playing tricks with me, or did it not change at all?

My ENT had me put peroxide in my ears two minutes twice a day to loosen wax befor he removed it with a small vacuum cleaner type tool....

My ear is clear-I got a kit from a drug store and it helped alot.

My concern is that my T might not go away, as I can hear it from time to time when I think about it. At times I can't hear it at all(and when I do it's not that bad), but sometimes I forget I have it. It is only audible when I think about it. Is it just my mind, or do I have tinnitus?

It's possible, as mine is similar, if my mind is busy I don't really notice it..
But ear wax build up can cause ringing yes..
If it's still there after removal from and ENT, maybe try oil drops..
could still be some on the eardrum unless the doc stated otherwise.

Went to my doctor today. She removed the ear wax(she was suprised I could hear, there was so much) and I can't hear it anymore. I can hear a ringing sound, but I think it is from the lights in my room.
