Earmuffs (for Not Too Loud Environments)?

      That's too much... I prefer something less "intrusive".

      what about other sounds?

      That's because they offer the best protection. I'd definitely recommend them for the vacuum cleaner. I wouldn't use one even with ear protection, though. A lot of the low frequency sound just seems to go right through.
