I was reading a book today, it says:
Chi Chong or "Crimson Worm"
- This worm drains the kidneys, causes ringing in the ears, pressure in the head, and erratic thought processes.
- This is the worm that lives off of our fears and anxieties.
- Often treated in acupuncture through use of lower lumbar Jia Ji points.

Pretty weird... it seems that thousands of years ago they already were associating anxiety with tinnitus.
