Greetings,
Almost a year ago I found myself with the sensation of a blocked ear, with pressure on the ear drum and constant tinnitus. Believing that it was the outer ear, I set about cleaning it, only to find no improvement. Seeking medical help, a local nurse first suggested it might be the Eustachian tube, eventually I saw an ENT specialist who identified that the cause of the ETD was a polyp growing over the tube.
I've now been on nasal drops for several months, Vistamethasone initially and more recently Flixonase. I don't feel pressure on the ear drum as before, but the tube is not clear and the tinnitus is still constant. I was given some steroid tablets but these didn't work out for me.
My major concern is flying, my wife is Japanese and we go to Japan about every 2 years, as well as other long and short haul flights. I'm wondering how I will manage on a 12 hour flight to Tokyo? I will see the specialist on Saturday and wish to get our flights booked by the end of this month. Early advise was not to fly but I've since been told by another specialist that there are ways.
I'd be grateful for any advice/suggestions from anyone on this or similar scenarios?
Many thanks,
