Howdy all. Well exactly 1 week ago I became one of us. Was just getting out of the shower. Left ear itched a bit, I just figured I got some water in there. So I started scratching at the outer rim of my ear canal and the ringing just started. Its happened before, but then my ear was clogged with wax, I cleaned it out and it rang for a day. This time though, no clogged feeling. Just ringing. My hearing seemed normal but who can really say without a test. It's day 7 now and it's wearing me down a bit. I'm sleeping 4-5 hours a night. This morning when I woke up at 3:15am, it seemed way louder and a higher tone. Yesterday was different.. could barely hear it. Hopefully this is a good days and bad days thing, and it's not going to be this loud at this pitch forever.
They gave me flonase and clairitin. 6 days til I can see the audiology people.
The fortunate, or maybe unfortunate thing for me is that I live, literally, on an island in the middle of nowhere. We don't have heaps of medical professionals here. There's only one ENT on the island. I don't like the idea of no options. But, I'm only a few hours from anywhere in Asia and can be there in less than half a day. They're not restricted by the FDA and usually have more options for treatments. Plus I can walk into a specialist without going thru the referral process and burning up time.
Well I guess that's about it.
If anyone has any experience seeking treatment in Asia I'd love to hear about your experience.
