Two months ago my wife and I moved us into an apartment after having stayed with her parents for three months. We did this in two days I was pretty pumped!

Finally got back out on are own not having to live with the in-laws its a good day.

The day after we moved in I could hear this ringing in my head I was to say the least a little freaked out.

After a week of dealing with this I finally just said enough is enough and went to the doctor; Of course they told me "Your ears look good give it a little while it will probably go away."

Of course they aren't going to reassure me why would they? My anxiety is at ten and on top of that I had other issues going on which didn't help my anxiety at all. Of course what many of you know now i didn't at the time anxiety can and most of the time make your tinnitus more noticeable and it did.

Well after a month I finally was able to go to a ENT specialist got my hearing test. They told me that I had scaring on my left ear and that I had lost some hearing that involved pitch. I have finally gotten to the point with this where my anxiety isn't taking over all the time which is great for me because it was worse than the tinnitus itself. Not saying that my tinnitus isn't bad its just my anxiety seemed to make everything worse.

The last two months I haven't used much to drown it out I did at first I used this rain app. I wasn't a fan to be honest I mean of course I would rather hear rain then ringing but I figured if I was going to have to live with this I better figure out how to deal with it as best I can. Which I understand that not everyone can do some have it way worse than I do.

Anyways most the time I fall asleep watching TV anyways so by the time I wake up to shut it off I'm to tired to care. Anyways I'm just rambling at this point so this is where I'm going to end this.

      Hi Steve,
I'm pretty new to this too. Today is the end of my 1st week. I had just got out of the shower, ear was itching a bit so I went after it with my finger, and the music started. I call going to bed now "facing the music." I do ok during the day and a couple times I actually forgot about it. I've just seen my GP so far, flonase and claritin. But 6 days later it's not helping. I suspect mine is caused by past infections, I'm a diver from way back, been in the water all my life. It's just my guess. Not sleeping great, maybe 5 hours a night. It was better yesterday when I work up, but this morning it's way worse. Seems to have settled down since I woke up a little. I usually fall asleep watching my ipad or listening to background music myself so that's not new for me. I've never been a good sleeper, so I'm used to that too. Maybe not this bad though.

Anyway, I'm wrestling with the options of waiting thru the referral process or getting on a plane and going to Manila and I can get a hearing test, ct scan, mri, and see an ent in a day or two and get it done. I think if I knew what the cause was I'd feel better about all this. I live in a place where the medical talent pool is not so great. Not sure if I wanna wait around to see the only ENT that lives here.

Anyway... that's where I"m at as of 3:15am this morning...

      Hey Martin

You know as time goes on you will learn how to deal with it. I wasn't getting much sleep in the beginning either but some of that may have been due to the anxiety to. Morning and nights are usually the worst for me but once I get moving around and doing stuff it tends to be less noticable. Unless something triggers it then it can get a little crazy but it usually doesn't last long then it calms down

Coping can happen sooner or later. It is different for all people. The one thing that can keep it from happening... is the constant struggle and fighting many will do internally. Fighting the inevitable simply get us no where. Your tinnitus might fade or it stay. It is ---what it---is. Accept the situation and move forward, why waste time and mental effort. Live your life, protect your ears and move on!

Good job, on your progress :)
