I have been suffering from pressure in my right ear for maybe 15 years now, which has now evolved into both ears feeling blocked, intermittently, as if underwater and therefore 90% deaf. This happens on and off to various degrees of severity and I have driven myself mad trying to understand what "sets it off". I am seeing an audiology clinic (again) next week, as I have decided to get hearing aids for the bad days, as the tress of not being able to hear is adding to the whole problem I am sure.
I feel that the "pressure" in my ears, is a separate issue to the "ringing". I can tolerate the noise (crazy loud white noise and crackling... like an electricity pylon is on my head), I'm used to that now... but the pressure/deafness is something else (approaching a proper disability) and I was wondering if any other sufferers are familiar with this issue. The pressure ensures that I can hear EVERY (and only) beat of my heart, or more annoyingly, the ambient sounds are delivered to my brain at a steady beat, according to my heart rate!
Weight training can break the pressure cycle and make my hearing better, which is interesting.
Anyone else get this?
I am a 54 year old, fit, active male.. very healthy diet, into fitness and bodybuilding, martial arts - I don't drink, as I suspect that this can trigger pressure in the ear/deafness episodes.
