You really do need keppra badly..Isn't there a way you could make an appointment with a doctor, explain how others have tried keppra and had minimal side-effects and their h vanished?

Never had an hair-cut before I was on keppra...My advice get a phone consultation and explain how badly it's affecting your life and how this one drug can majorly change your life. Or go on holiday to Spain, where you can get keppra without a prescription.

The last time i got s haircut was with scissors in jan i told the lady no machines and no blowdryers and as soon as she finishes she turns in the frkn blowdryer and i tell her to shut it off that spiked my t bad .. And a migrane for days

I was just going to say, I just call up my hair girl, and tell her I can come in at the end of her day, she understands that It needs to be quiet so when I get there I'm her last customer and we are the only ones there. And Like "Chelles" just said I have her cut it with only scissors, no clippers and no electric air dryer she knows better. I clean up the edges like my side burns when I get home with my blade shaver. I do let her do the back with a straight rasor blade it works out ok. It's too bad that we have to go through all of this crap because of this monster.

May I ask how bad your H is ? are you still able to drive a car ? and get to the food mart for food ? That's my bigget fear as I live alone, I'm still working on that problem if it comes up.

I have to tell you, its nice that you advising people on the keppera but at the same time, I am very confident that If I would have not have taken the prenisone steriod's a month ago. I would not have major H now, and be in the horrible position that I am in now. Keppera could do more good then bad, who's to know until its too late. Every doctor that I have asked told me that the prenisone steriod's are perfectly safe and would only help my hearing but look where I am right now. I got major H 3 days after I started the prednisone steriode's ? And I still don't understand why ?

I am now terrified of taking any medications now.

I'm just saying, we all need to be careful with just taking medications

Keppra is really safe, I've had no side-effects. So how can it be bad.

I'm not saying it IS bad for sure, all I'm saying is that everyone reacts to medciations differently. Who would have guessed in a million years that prednisone steroid's could have gave me H and destroyed my hearing and my life ? I would have never of guess that. But it seem to have. And I took them once before about 10 years ago with no problems. We just never know, the same thing could happen with keppra, is all that I am saying. I'm not trying to argue with you about what you believe. It worked for you and that's great Dan. I did ask to get it and my ENT said NO, I would have to find a nuerogoglist and get it from him. It is an anti seizur drug.

I'm glad that you don't have hyperacusis, I'm not sure what "middle ear myoclonus", but I'm going to look it up. I hope that you had a good Easter.

You just go get your haircut. A lot of H is fear and anxiety. Clipper noise for a few seconds will not damage your hearing at all. I have mild H now and I get a haircut every 3 weeks. Been doing it the past few years with H. I am fine. My H has not gotten worse. In fact it has improved. One of the ways of dealing with H is just not to fear sounds or fear it will get worse. Fearing sounds, avoiding them, wearing ear plugs too much will only make it worse.

I thought I had bad H, I can't belive that clippers with ear plugs in is loud. That's insane. And my H is aweful, voices hurt, plates on the counter are painful, light switch is not nice, but a steady buzz from clippers with ear plugs in does nothing to my H at all.

My H is so bad that I am home a lot, but for some reason I just can't believe what you describe is H on its own. There must be some anxiety or something making it worse. Maybe I'm wrong.

I think a lot of this is middle ear myoclonus. Now we just need to wait another ten years for the medical geniuses to stop wanking around with brain waves and electrolyte shifts and god-knows what else, and get back to basic, common-sense research starting at the start instead of observing obscure outcomes and thinking they are causes.

I have middle ear myoclonus and sounds don't hurt me I get spasms in my ear that are super annoying and can be heard by doctor (objective tinnitus) I don't think what @Geo describes is what I have.

    23. Seriously? I could use a holiday...Cool!

    24. *sigh*

      H isnt always anxiety!

I just listened to my favorite song. I have no anxious thoughts towards music. For the first time in a year, my ear spasmed and did not want to hear music.

      No anxiety.

      Just pain.

H is not always just anxiety.

My H and T has gotten worse NOT better.

I'm really sorry to hear this man. I know what you are going through, it's hell.

I'm the same, I expose my ears and get set back. It's very frustrating.

    26. @Geo the steady drone of clippers can be irritating. It isn't always about volume.

When I get tattoo work done, I have to wear plugs and headphones with soft music playing. .well that was before setback and only once.

Prior to that, the endless buzzzzzzz did my ear in and it's NOT LOUD. ..sounds just like a clipper ( sidenote* I can't believe I am this bad now!!)

So what can you do? no clippers? grow your hair? or just plug up and grin and bear it...could someone come over and maybe you could put a fan on? it would help cut the buzzzzz sound..
