Have been invited to go, but can't find anything on the web about the volumes from the karts.

I guess It'd be fine with plugs?

You'll be fine. Go and enjoy yourself. Just make sure you put in your plugs deep and correctly.

Thanks for the advice. I have plugs which cut out a minimum of 33db, so I guess as long as they're not over 113db they would be fine? And the helmet must cut out sound too?

Gas powered ones, just lawnmower engines stuck to go karts basically haha. Yeah I don't think I'll risk it to be honest, just frustrating as it was one of my favourite things to do.

I never ride my motorcycle without 33 db plugs, and it maxes out at about 110db. But, I do notice some ear fatigue after riding for more than a few minutes even at that, and I am on the verge of giving the bike up even though I don't want to. YMMV...

I did go-karts in the desert in Vegas last summer (with plugs), and didn't have any problems from that. That go-kart was definitely not as loud as my motorcycle, either. 110db is really loud.
