I just want to be sure I'm safe. Is listening to music at a low volume okay? And how long? I used to listen music for hours before but I know better than that now. Is listening to several songs okay? After listening to even a few songs at a very low volume my ears ache. I don't know if that's because of hyperacusis though. I just want to be sure I'm not doing any damage.

As @maltese says and I agree with him, listening to music as low level wont cause any harm. Your hyperacusis needs treating and it can be cured although this depends how severe it is? By this I mean the type of treatment that will be required. Please click on the links below and read the articles.
Hope things improve for you soon.

PS: I advise that you don't listen to any type of audio through headphones even at low volume.

My tinnitus only spikes to music (even at low levels) when I use headphones, so I don't use them. Still, at low levels, you're not going to harm your ears. It doesn't matter how long you listen to music, it's the volume that matters. Of course, if you are using headphones, it'd be wise to give your ears a break every hour or so.
