Have You Experienced a Permanent Tinnitus Spike After Flying?

Have you (or someone you read about on this forum) experienced a permanent T spike after being on a plane? I am hoping to find out whether there is anyone out there who wore ear plugs with Peltor muffs or noise-cancelling headphones on a plane, and still got a permanent T spike.

I am also interested whether people got permanent spikes after road trips (being inside of a car for many hours per day for a week or two). I am trying to decide whether or not to cancel an upcoming trip that I booked days before my acoustic trauma...

@Bill Bauer I can say personally i haven't had a permanent spike for either traveling on a plan or in car, but i had spikes that could be there for a few days at longest. Around the muffs and headphones, i hope another member can help you answer that question.

To the question if you should cancel your normal routine just because of your T, i say don't (if it's not affecting you in that way you feel, you can't function under the trip). Go enjoy yourself as the best you can it will give you more back and also keep your mind off focusing on the sounds.

No. I've flown 2-3 dozen times since my T got worse, and it's never even caused a temporary spike.

I do tend to wear eaplugs from takeoff to landing.

I should have been more clear. I plan to wear Peltor muffs or noise cancelling headphones in the plane and in the car during a road trip. Has anyone done that and lived to regret it?

not that I know of.

No, I have not. I've been on at least 24 flights since I got tinnitus and hyperacusis. I have had a few temporary spikes, but nothing permanent. I went on a single 1 hour flight without ear protection and had a temporary spike that went away in a day or so. I take my X5A earmuffs with me every time now.

I had a chance to drive this summer (to get my HBOT treatments). Peltor muffs and ear plugs or Bose noise-cancelling headphones and earplugs worked well. I didn't get a spike afterwards.
