I bought a guinea pig about three weeks ago. I'm glad I did. My t hit an all new high a few days ago. Having a rough time with it. I never thought a pet guinea pig could be such a comfort.

I'm glad you got a cute pet :) I've been thinking about getting one myself to help with my anxiety. What's your pet's name?

Guinea pigs are used for tinnitus research. @erniej you should give yours tinnitus and see how it handles it.

      Sometimes, but it's usually mice.
I talked with someone that was using guinea pigs in their audiology research, but they weren't actually damaging the guinea pigs and at the end of the study they're fine. Normally if they are going to blast the subject's ears giving them hearing damage and tinnitus they use mice.

The mice start panicking about their T and posting on forums to look for fellow mice sufferers. Happens all the time. ;)

His name is Adolph. He gets me through the rough times so far... I'm not doing well at all right now. Actually, I'm doing really bad. I've had T since 1991 but last October the crap hit the fan and over time when I don't think it can get any louder it does. I never though I'd be the one to need a guinea pig for support. He's always happy to see me and he's a good listener.

He makes chirps and whistles. IMO they make great pets. When I first got him he would jump at even the slightest sound or movement. Now he's constantly standing up wanting attention. They like to nibble at your fingers to show affection. Adolph draws blood. I guess he REALLY likes me. He responds to his name by bouncing all over the place and knows what the word 'treat' means. Needs more work on the nibbling thing though.

I want a pet, but I'm often gone for too long to take care of one. :(

He is. Nibbling is how they like to connect. He's standing up right now trying to get some attention as I'm typing this. Once they get to know you they like interacting with you. I'm glad I got him. He also has excellent bladder control. Sometimes it's like reaching into his cage and taking out a best friend.
