Once there was a monkey, a monkey with a brother monkey...
Now forget about the monkey and try not to think of it..

Headphones:
I read lots of stories where people said that after listening with headphones their experience of Tinnitus got worse, it got louder etc.

When you use heaphones the ears are partially isolated, me

Training
This is very important!
Train your ears! Train my ears? Yes your ears!
Let me tell you how.
For example: When you listen with headphones train your ears to hear sounds at the lowest possible volume that suits you. If you find the settings for your lowest volume and you are able to hear everything, stay at this volume.

If you turn off the light at night, your eyes need to adjust themselves. At first so only see darkness, after a while you begin to see things. Same with listening, if you are at a place where many people speak to each other, you are able to focus your hearing into a particular conversation between 2 people., and you can follow the conversation.

If you use headphones with an initial middle or high volume, it is harder (takes more time) to still hear the music when you lower the volume to a very low setting. It takes more time for your ears to recognise sound from high volume to a low volume than it is the other way around.

Diet
Try to eat as healthy as possible, (no colorants, no tasteners). Try it for a week, but strict!
What is a week in your life? Notice if there is a difference. Most of people experiment with this but not fully. That's why I wrote: Try it for a week but strict. For this to succeed you have to have a strong will.
If you will to do this is that strong, you will succeed. Other wise it will be just another mindset that lasts 2 days, and after the second day > ''Oh, I would like some apple pie with whipped cream'' (or whatever unhealthy stuff you like), and before you know it you have to start over again.

Rest
Rest your ears, that's important. But this is not the only form of rest.
Rest the idea that's in your head:
'Your whole idea of Tinnitus should rest'
Every time you think of your Tinnitus you give awareness to it. Whatever you put your awareness on, will strengthen.

Embrace
There comes a time (I hope it will for , I really hope) that you embrace the fact that you have Tinnitus.
For me, Tinnitus learned me about relaxation. It is very easy to get annoyed or irritated when you have Tinnitus. Accepting that you have Tinnitus will heal the hyperacusis and you whole mindset.
Is it in your advantage or in your disadvantage that you complain or pitty yourself that you have Tinnitus?

I have Tinnitus but I am not a sufferer. You have to change the context frrom > 'I suffer from Tinnitus' > to 'I experience some sounds, they call it Tinnitus but I don't suffer from it.
If you have only see the downside of it, what possible upsides can there be? There must be some.
You just have to find the lights witch to get out of the darkness.

The only reason that you suffer from Tinnitus is because you compare your hearing with the past.
Everything is changeable. You just have to change your cognition.
You pitty yourself for having Tinnitus. This is a thought current. Try to change it.

How to change it? Let me give you a start by presenting some questions you can ask yourself.

Do I think it it worse that I have Tinnitus?
Why do I think that?
Because I am getting crazy of that sound.
Why am I getting crazy of that sound?
Because I can't concentrate.
Is my concentration dependent on sound?
Yes
Why is that so?
Because etc...

It might look childish or stupid, but please have a conversation with you and explore you. This is an easy way to have new insights so you can find more rest.

For every, I say Every answer and statement you give to yourself, ask WHY?
This is the method to really dig deep into yourself.

Healing has many degrees, and it all starts from within.

You complaining or bothering because your Tinnitus will not help at all. Change it.
Only you can do it.

I am here to help not only you, but also myself.

Good luck
