Concert/rave
Hello everyone :) My names Mike and I'm 21, just this Sunday I stupidly agreed to a rave with my friends...

Tinnitus since then, a slight ringing and for the past week it's all i can think about.. I also drive a motorcycle with a fairly loud exhaust, since Sunday i put on ear buds without music, just to get some protection from the noise from the bike, I also stopped using my earphones.

I was wondering, I'm only 21, is there any chance of tinnitus going away? I wish I never even found out about it, to me it seems like since I found out what it was the more I'm focusing on it :( Also hello to all members :) I also apologize for so much writing :)

You are very lucky , that your tinnitus is very new. It could fade a little or go away or it might stay. Only time will tell. You are on the right track, protect your ears. Especially when riding a loud bike. Avoid loud sounds, because that low-tone could get much louder, if you further listen to loud sounds or are in areas where the noise is loud.

@fishbone thank you so much for a fast reply :) The last few days I've spent staying up till 5am stressing, reading here has already helped.. I can feel that my ears do "something" from time to time, a strange feeling, however I've always had problems with my ears, every 2 years or so i need to get earwax removed as i produce a lot and have narrow ears. Can i ask how did your t start? Is there anything that helps you?

I had vertigo for 1 month (it started then) and then a LOUD heavy metal concert sealed the deal and gave me my low tone-hiss ringing in the left ear. I talked things out with family and those that were close to me. I saw my audiologist as well and I was able to deal with it. It did take a good 1 year to understand what was happening though and it was a bit of a challenge.

I'll say this much, I WISH i had the level of low-tone/hiss you have. I was foolish and listened to loud music, did loud things and now my ears are DEMON level tinnitus in both ears. You are blessed that someone like me, types to you and helps you out. This wasn't around 30 years ago, for me to ask questions and seek help :)

What i find the worst is just the paranoia, i was at my friends house yesterday, and i heard some odd sound..Got so much adrenaline thinking it was the T but later found out my friend has the oven on :D

I really do appreciate you answering me, i feel less alone on this... Simply because my friends don't have it.. makes me feel less human to be honest. But hopefully if i stay away from music and loud environments hopefully it'll be better. Thanks so much for your time :)

That is one of the most relatable things I've read here. Any high frequency or buzzing gets my pulse through the roof until I realize I'm not the source.

If you spend any time reading the threads on this forum, you will inevitably see multiple horror stories about people not protecting their ears, and getting a permanent spike. What I learned from reading those stories is that if I am to hope for any recovery, I am to protect my ears. In your case, you might want to not use your motorcycle and not go to any raves for at least the next 6 months. If you are serious about doing everything you can to ensure you don't get stuck with tinnitus for the rest of your life, you would never use your motorcycle or go to raves again. For the next 6 months, you might also want to avoid mild noises like vacuum cleaner, blender, and lawn mower.

@Elinor Yeah it's mostly anxiety, happened literally an hour ago, at my friends again, he plays a game and a grenade went off with a high ringing sound...Paranoia kicked in straight away..

@Bill Bauer Yeah, very serious about it, I'm gonna invest in a pair of some ear plugs for the bike. Funny enough i didn't want to go to a rave, just don't like them.. it was a mistake.. Past 3 days i mostly stay in my room in almost silence :)

This is what I have been doing for close to seven months now. It takes time for this to work. Ears take forever to heal. Hopefully you will see results in a month or so.

Check out the link below. Our ears have been compromised. Ear plugs won't always help.
