      Hello Tinnitus Talk.

Been lurking for a while. Felt like it was time to make an account. From what I've read and researched here on Tinnitus Talk I have somatic tinnitus. I went to my doctor, and an ear-nose-throat specialist here in Norway, and none of 'em could tell me anything else than "live with it!"... So... Thank you for educating me.

Not sure how I am feeling right now. Always loved music. From jamming blues with my dad on a roadtrip when I was a kid to classical or drum and bass.. So I guess this is seriocomical for me, because now I have an excuse to listen to music all the time (he-he-he-he: Peter Griffin laugh).

On a more serious note. The way I got this f*cking thing was about 4 months ago. For some reason my beloved Honda did a good job altering the pressure inside the car, and when I opened the door my ears popped like you wouldn't believe. Temporary lost my eyesight, hearing and balance. Soon after I had a bright tone in the middle of my head. Being the overly nervous diagnosed-with-avoidant-personality-disorder dude that I am, I panicked and went to sleep, hoping I would wake up and all would be well.. Woke up several hours later with a machine sound-thing that is still there to this day. Changes pitch with eye movement, clenching/moving the jaw. I'm also very sensitive about metal against metal sound which is new to me.

Anyway... Feeling the utmost respect for everyone of you, especially when reading that some of you have had this all your life.

go eat some curcumin supplements and see if that helps. works great for me and several others here.

I eat mine at dinner time.

I am having major life altering Honda problems myself. I drive a 2008 CRV and have done major work to it myself and now it randomly won't start.
      that is very interesting.
Mine is visually modulated, which includes eye movement AND seeing lights move on a screen without actually moving my eyes. Like when I minimize or maximize windows on my computer is modulates it.

What... Really? I will get some come Monday.

And I can't believe what I'm reading. A Honda CR-V that won't start? Boy you must be trippin'..

Sounds exhausting man. Jikes. You dealing okey with it though?

My biggest problem with all of this is that if I don't get my daily dose of music, I'd rather God just picked me up right fucking now. Just bought another headset to, sooo..there's that..:nailbiting:

In the old days most people used records and boom box with adjustable volume with nothing on their ears. Start a CD collection and listen NOT next to or on your ear.

Yes, this! I try to use my stereo as much as possible, but ever so often I have to drift away in the world of headphones. Not saying I'm the expert, but audio-engineers have said that if the gear you're using is of ok quality, the chance of peaks and lows or distortion happening is going to be minimal. Distortion is bad for ones ears.

(...I'm probably just trying to justify not having to give up on music, even though I feel that a conclusion of that kind is right around the corner:unsure:)

It's ok, I'll write it here.

You could get your GP (fastlege) to refer you to an ENT (Øre-nese-hals lege) preferably with an audiologist (audiograf) to do a hearing test. You might get help from the audiologist to get a "sound"-pillow (NAV) which can help you mask your Tinnitus during the night. I have one - it is super helpful. I also got hear-aid for situations when my T spikes.

      - I assume you've already check your ears for earwax? If not you could try rinsing your ears.
      - One user on here recommended nasal rinse (neseskylling) to help open the eustachian tube. Might be worth a short if you got ear popping.
      - You can buy curcumin supplements (gurkemeie) as recommended above from health-food stores (Sunkost, Life) and Magnesium supplements from the same stores.
      - Also make sure you read up on ototoxic medicine. We are all different, so your T might spike/get worse from using this kind of meds.

Other than that, try to relax (I know it's not easy) and give yourself time to heal. Good luck!

      I guess you're from Norway? =) Hei.

I went to Aleris just last week to an ENT-specialist. She just told me that I had tinnitus, and that I'd have to learn have to cope/live with it. That is all. She did however send an refferal to an audiologist, so there's that. Hoping to here from them next week.

I panicked and took the initiative to visist Aleris myself. In desember I have an appointment with a second ENT referred to by my GP.

      Thanks. Gonna try out curcumin.

Yes. I am from Norway too:)

Understand your need to visit Aleris when you panicked. However, I doubt the Aleris can help you with the sound pillow and hearing aids coveret by NAV. You have to go to your public GP and tegn be refered to a public ENT and audiologist.

In the meantime, see if any of the tinnitus relief videos on YouTube might help. Also, there are several hearing test apps and tinnitus apps on Appstore that might be worth a shot.

Just suggesting things here, some might work, some not:)

Main T is lower/calmer today, but now I hear all sorts of sounds. Like my head is speaking. Bodynoise maybe?

Have an appointment with public ENT in desember. The long wait is why I ran to Aleris, but I guess I mentioned this already. Sorry.

      Good night tinnitustalk

It’s OK. Don’t be harsh on yourself.

If you manage, you can call them and ask if they can call you if they get any cancellations.
I often do that, and mostly (not always) Get lucky!

did you look into magnesium? Try the one from Nycolplus which you can buy at Vitus Apotek.
