Hey all! Thanks for being on these forums.

I've had tinnitus since wrecking my ears in mosh pits as a teenager. I've ignored the high-pitched whine I've heard all the time for over 30 years. Until this year, that is, when my tinnitus got louder and more pulsy. I'm trying not to worry about it and to figure out strategies to deal with this new development.

Anyway, looking forward to reading more about people's thoughts and ideas!

Hello there @Jeff M, welcome to the forums. Sorry to hear about your recent increase in loudness. Wow, 30 years, that's some amazing endurance! Does the pulsy-ness match your heartbeat at all, or is it something entirely different?

Thank you for the welcome! I don't know what changed--it just happened for no reason I'm aware of. I'm hoping I'll be able to train myself to ignore it if I shouldn't worry about it. It does create some stress right now.

I described my pulsiness in a post in the pulsatile tinnitus forum, but no one has responded yet. I'm not sure if I should be concerned about it or not.

Thanks again for the comments! :)

You bet @Jeff M, sometimes it takes a while for people to respond.

      Hello @Jeff M.

I too have had tinnitus for 27 years and mine changed after being habituated. There are a few members on Tinnitus Talk where it has changed for them after many years.

@Eleanor89, I'm sorry you've also experienced your tinnitus changing. How have you dealt with it?

      Hello @Jeff M.

Mine started a month after surgery, but I think we also change as we get older...

My tinnitus is a bit different as it’s pulsatile but it varies and is mostly in my right ear.

My hearing is slightly worse in the right ear. But I’ve been told it’s nothing to worry about as it’s only slight. I started with hyperacusis along with the tinnitus and that has been my worry... So I’ve been working on getting better.

It’s a year now and I’m improving slowly.

You will habituate again as you have done it before, it just takes time.
