Cause of Tinnitus

I have had tinnitus since childhood. No idea why. I was fine with this until middle age when a new noise introduced itself, the low industrial rumble many people experience. Luckily this is mild and have been able to get used to it. There are times these days when this and the most recent addition to the orchestra intrude into my daytime activities although the most unpleasant symptom by far is the ear fullness, which can be very uncomfortable at times. Thanks to this forum, I now begin to understand why this may be occurring so a big thank you for that.

I came across this forum while searching for information as to why tinnitus fluctuates so much and have found it very useful. I am looking to combine what I have learnt from a course I did in reflexology with what I learn here and combine those pressure points I find useful into a daily foot or hand massage. Anything that works I will be sure to post:) TB 2 (Triple Burner 2 on the hand, sometimes called TH2) seems to work for me except the point on my acupressure chart is higher than most charts have it, actually above the web between little and ring fingers, a little way up on the side of the ring finger. Check out TB (or TH)1 and Li4 (Liver meridian), they may work for you. I use Beryl Crane's excellent book which combines hand, foot, and ear reflexology and includes acupressure points.

I will be looking at relieving Eustachian tube problems and problems with the surrounding muscles using hand reflexology and will post accordingly, should I get results. I am very excited by the acoustic modulation posts and have learnt far more here about tinnitus than from my GP or audiologist. The latter told me that there was nothing I could do about tinnitus and that it would get worse. It may do but at least I have discovered from this forum strategies I can try if it does.

What impresses me about the folk on here is how helpful they are to one another and how resourceful in the face of the challenges tinnitus is to many.

Welcome to the forum. You seem to be very well informed with things on tinnitus and doing quite well. Thanks for the good words on the forum, its resources and its members. Wish you all the best. God bless.
