Hi

Hi
My tinnitus started a little over a month ago and I need advice I'm hopeless and afraid

Hi,

how did you get your tinnitus? It's normal to be scared about tinnitus at first. All of us were freaked out when we got it. With tinnitus it will take time to adjust, try not to rattle yourself. Stress/anxiety can increase tinnitus levels and simply annoy you. Try to distract yourself and not listen for that noise.

We are here to support, so you are never alone :)

Mine started about 30 years ago from a very bad cold/fever then a loud rock concert did me in and made it permanent. I have lived my life to the max and my tinnitus is very loud. I don't have much regrets though, I rather have a life full of experiences than limitations....

People should protect their ears, but not go overboard.

30 years and wow so I guess mine is permanent??
If people don't suffer from what you suffer from, most of the time..they don't get it. I have juggle quite a few difficulties, so I understand pain and I have empathy towards those that suffer.

I cannot say if your tinnitus is permanent or not. No one can say or predict it. It can either fade away or stay. Stress/anxiety can have a negative impact on the tinnitus, so do try to limit it as much as possible.

Time --- Support --- Distract/Relax

This will take some time to adjust and understand. It took me quite a while to get use to this and accept it. Support is needed, I use to talk to family and friends and just talk to someone and not deal with it alone. Distraction is a must when it comes to tinnitus. Do something that you love to do, that is safe and not loud.

These 3 elements apply for those that suffer from tinnitus. As time passes by, you can start adapting and coping.

My only med is exercise and martial arts :)
