      Hello,
Please explain how your tinnitus started, your age, how long you've had it and how you've been dealing with it, has it lowered etc.
      Thanks.

Started in 2016 about a day after a visit to the dentist for a routine tooth filing - not stopped since. Didn't have it before. £50 well spent. Joy...! Not found any way to get used to it yet. I live in hope. My T is a very high (8 Khz ) pitched 'hissing' noise that is often pulsatile ( but not always ) usually in one ear but sometimes in both. It can change frequency through the day. As soon as I get up I know if its going to be a good day, or bad day. I have about one 'quieter' day a week. A fabulous day !! When its bad, external sounds make it worse. On bad days I hate the noise of toilets flushing and spoons clanking and even other peoples speech. Not found anything that helps, although wearing ear buds when its really bad does stop it further 'reacting' to external sounds. If I don't wear them it gets louder as my ear picks up certain sounds.
Its the strangest thing I have ever encountered.
Not found any supplement that helps and not tried any meds as I don't care for pharmaceuticals.
I hope you find some relief ! Most do in one way or another.
      Wishing you a quiet T day X

Night-out, started next morning when I woke up. Sometimes 4-5kHz hiss, sometimes 8kHz tone, sometimes crickets, sometimes everything.

Aural fullness and other 'attractions' such as H as well.

I'm coping way better, hard to say if physical improvement happened though.

37, caused by a powerful alarm, 7 months tomorrow. I haven't been dealing with it apart from understanding that my life was destroyed on the 29th May 2016.
Fluctuating hissing ringing pinging, balance issues, wiped out high frequency hearing above 13k

Well its been six months, have you noticed any improvement at all? What do you mean you pinging? Like, my t is like a hum noise, what exactly is a ping?

Also what show did you see the other day?

No improvement in tinnitus really other than hearing clarity has improved. I can hear a noise like a "ting ting" I describe it as a pinging sound, it's like a shorting electrical cable, I assume this is nerve damage.
I also have hissing, ringing, my hearing seems to drop now and then too. Left ear feels worse than the right.

Show was Cinderella, it was very loud but earplugs saved me I think.

I woke up with a fullness in my left ear on Christmas Day,a few days later it spread to my right ear accompanied by a cracking sound when I swallowed.

First ENT said everything was fine but the second ENT treated me for an ear infection and ETD.The T started just before my appointment with the second ENT.

After the fullness was cleared my dropped by about 80% and then to 95% in the following months.

I don't know whether it was noise induced or not, there's a few question marks still left over the whole thing.

      Cause of Tinnitus:
Sudden profound hearing loss in left ear.
My problems began on July 20, 2013 when I suddenly lost all ability to hear in my left ear. Doctors decided this was probably caused by a virus. I was 53 years old. I have had aural fullness, tinnitus and hyperacusis since then, all in my deaf ear. My left ear does not hear but it reacts to every sound my right ear hears.
Coping required lifestyle changes for me because of the hearing loss. I retired early, gave up playing music, etc. It has been a challenge but I have had the support of family and friends to help. The anxiety and depression are gone. The tinnitus is always there but quieter than it used to be. The fullness and pain are constant but not as severe as they were in the beginning. I have very painful spikes that seem to last about a week.
I am happy again and three years ago, I thought for sure that I would never be happy again.

@Kelvin thanks! Yours is pretty recent, have you thought about trying lipoflavonoid vitamins? Its crazy to think a dentist visit can cause tinnitus, who would ever think.

I'm 36 and I have T since 2015 caused by a wax removal by microsuction. I don't have any hearing loss and I take gingko biloba but have no improvements yet. My T is worse when I wake up in the morning and when I lay down. It seems to be related with my head position..

      Tinnitus Since:
      2014
Tinnitus started in October 2014 at age 52. At first it was pulsatile whooshing in left ear only. Think it started with severe ear infection causing punctured eardrum twice. This phase lasted for 8 months or so with very low ordinary tinnitus that I could only hear sometimes at night. had a blissful period of about 6 months when all tinnitus seemed to disappear. Then in Feb 2016 noticed loud T in left ear. This like a high pitched whine. Then occasional morse code T in both ears. Then in July 2016 noticed loud low frequency hum in right ear. This has remained with varying intensity up to now with pulsatile T audible with the drone as background. Occasional tensor tympani thudding and body twitches. So all in all I'm another who can tell 2016 to F off!
Phenergan seems to lessen the intensity and volume of the T in both ears for a number of hours. Sleeping much better naturally than I did from Feb to August this year so some habituation must be kicking in. Can do most of the stuff I used to do before T - going out drinking, socialising etc but I will pay the penalty with a spike if I overdo things - a spike and a hangover I would not wish on my worst enemy!
Good luck to us all in 2017!!

23 y.o, since April this year thanks to withdrawal from SSRI with ototoxic effect. Moderate hearing loss mainly in right ear.

Between April and November, I could deal with it as some music/driving/talking/television could mask it. Became worse couple of weeks ago due to noise exposure and now it is fluctuating, reactive and louder. Not yet coping well, especially falling a sleep seems to be impossible. Hope that the fluctuations will settle down in the coming months, at least the reactivity seems to improve.

No I have not tried Lipoflavanoid Vitamins - thanks will have a Google ! To be honest I would eat sawdust if it helped. No idea on what happened at the Dentist as it was normal filling. Maybe a neck / jaw thing. It just didn't stope yet. I live in hope. Hope your day was bearable. Cheers X

What did the doctor give you to treat your ETD and infection ? My ears feels also full sometimes when there is too much noise and doing the valsava manoeuvre doesn't pop my ears when this happens.

I was put on a steroid decongestant,a normal decongestant like sudafed,I was given a Neti pot and Vicks chest rub and told to put it in a bowl of boiling water with a towel over my head.

They also put some cream into my ears for a week and cleared it out once the infection had gone.I was then given an operation to remove nasal polyps from my nose and sent on my way.

The T started about 2 weeks after my ears went full, after the treatment it dropped from an 8 to a 1 and then disappeared completely within the next few months.

My T started after 4 hours of watching 2 movies with headphones on. Prior to that I was a heavy user of headphones during my workouts. I used them for years at least 4-5 a week for 2 hour sessions. I feel better about my T now, I don't get panic/anxiety attacks anymore. The only thing that bugs me is my sensesitivy to certain sounds. I believe mine has lowered but I'm not sure. It could be that I just stopped giving it an emotional response.

@Marcos Que I still get anxiety its been 5 months, and I'm sure it has lowered in the first 3 months. Now I think my brain is just adjusting because I haven't noticed improvement. Hopefully in a few more months.

I've had panic attacks before and it never happened to me. I wonder why this happens to certain people for different reasons. There's so many causes.

Noise / T worsened with antiobiotics
Mine started about 11 years ago after going to a loud bar. I habituated after lots of panic attacks and life settled back to normal. Just a few months ago, the T doubled in volume after taking antibiotics. The volume has not reduced since then though I do seem to be getting more used to it. Am deathly afraid of my dentist appt tomorrow, but it's something I've gotta do.

      Most probably tmj
Mine started in july this year. I was laying in bed and heard a low screeching sound and then i tried to really focus on it to hear it better (for some dumb reason) which resulted in it becoming 10 times higher and me panicing. I fell asleep that night with the help of white noise, and woke up with an aching jaw, ear fullness, extreme sensitivity to sound (has improved over time, but is still very much present) and tinnitus on the same level as when i fell asleep. The symptoms have pretty much persisted ever since minus about ten instances of it disapearing for shorter periods of time, and then returning. I suspect tmd caused it since i had suffered from bruxism several years prior and still am and my hearing seems to be good according to hearing tests i've taken. But ofcourse there is no real way to be sure.

I developed T right after I finished college. I got it Sep 23, 2017. I was about 27 years old when I got it, it was mild from Sep 2017 -Jan 15, 2018 and then it turned severe after an ear test on Jan 15. The Severe T brought a lot of other "probems" which I am still dealing with up to right now.
