Hi. I've been to see my GP about my tinnitus. She wasn't able to help but told me she was going to refer me to ENT as my tinnitus is in one ear only. I know the NHS isn't perfect so I never expected to gat an appointment to ENT for perhaps 2-3 weeks. I phoned the doctor today to see if I had a confirmed appointment yet. And was told it will be a 16 week wait till I can expect an appointment. 4 months seems a really long time to wait with bad tinnitus. Is this average for the NHS? If it is then so be it. There's not much I can do about it. But does anyone think I should try and see someone sooner, especially as my tinnitus is in one ear? I'm not being ungrateful. I appreciate the fact I can be seen. 16 weeks or not. But I don't want to not do anything, something happen (acoustic neuroma) and then find out I should have pushed for quicker intervention. Thanks, any advise is appreciated. Should I just shut up and wait? or push to be seen earlier?
