Here's a link to a video by Dr Mandell showing how he cured his tinnitus by alleviating Eustachian Tube Dysfunction. I hope it helps.

He is a chiropractor. I've seen that video, it's pretty good, and I've been trying some of these things. I don't have Eustachian Tube Dysfunction according to my doctor(s), but I think I have a milder version of it which may be causing some of my tinnitus and/or other problems. I bought the exact steamer that he shows, and use it. Rather than use OTC allergy sprays, or homeopathic ones, I use Arm and Hammer Simply Saline, from the drug store. I don't like to do the Valsalva maneuver too often, so I usually use a device called Valsavi Eustachian Tube Exerciser, which is easier and basically does the same thing. I don't use a neti pot at all. Not sure if these procedures are helping my tinnitus, as I've only been doing them for about 2.5 weeks, but it is getting better, little by little, for whatever reason.

I have eustachian disfunction due to a nasal septum deviation with two doctors with the same opinion and after a audiometrics with very good result, so I need surgery to correct that, i have so lower T audible only on silence and H, but H seems to be disapearing, 6 months on this after a strong sax noise with no earplugs, have you ever consider that on you, I never but only need a tomography of my nose to confirm the origin of the H...
T is about being exposed to noise, but is controllable and curable...

This really worked for me! I had annoying tinnitus for like a week, and then I did this and it slowly resolved it. I had to repeat the exercise several times a day, though.

I just wanted to add a word of caution to this thread.

I tried the valsalva technique in the video above, and am on week 2 of a serious spike. It is worse than before. My tinnitus was non-reactive to my diet, but now if I drink caffeine, or have too much salt on my fries it goes through the roof. After having tinnitus for 6 months, this is the first real spike I've experienced and has been pretty scary.

So please be careful everyone. I'm hoping this is just a temporary spike, I'll reply in the future so other users can find out if the spike ever settles down.

I came on here today in hopes that maybe my story would help someone else and I see that someone else posted about Dr. Mandell's Video that I also found on YouTube several weeks ago. It was that video that started me on the road to recovery! I'll be brief as to not make you read a novel. Over three months ago my ears started ringing, roaring, screeching, hissing and many other noises and it got so loud that on my suicide chart of 1 -10 I was at an 8. I have no medial insurance but I went to Urgent Care and then a few weeks later to an Ear Specialist who charged me $225.00 to have his nurse give me a hearing test which naturally I failed due to the screeching in my ears and then he talked to me for about three minutes where he looked into each ear for about one second each and then told me that there was nothing that he could do for me, that my hearing test showed that my hearing was impaired and that it was just a part of getting old (It was one week before my 50th birthday) and he walked out of the room! I came home and wanted to cry and it was then that I found Dr. Mandell's Video and as another person in this chat said, my ears also seemed worse after I did the exerises. I after several days found another of Dr. Mandell's Videos and he mentioned a blockage. I was desperate to try anything and I had been by the way, vitamins, ear drops, binary beat videos, exercises, etc.. So I researched ear blockages due to earwax and I didn't think that I had one but I decided to try mineral oil because 'why not'. I have always cleaned my ears with peroxide and I've never used mineral oil and I didn't think that I had a blockage and no doctor ever saw one, including the specialist who's nurse used an instrument to blow into my ear to determine if I had one or not. So anyway, I used ten drops of mineral oil in each ear every morning and evening and I'd lay on one side with the oil in it for about 20 to 30 minutes before rolling over. After about five days it made the ringing worse and something actually dislodged itself in my ear and half of the ringing went away!!! I'm still using the oil, it's been about 10 days now. I don't know how long exactly I can continue using the oil but it's working and this morning something else unlodged from my other ear and that ear also experienced an instant decrease of the noise!! So I'm going to keep using it until the problem is over and then I think for the rest of my life I'm going to use mineral oil once a month just to be safe. So I don't know if my story will help anyone else but I know how you feel and you'll try anything, so go ahead and try this. Mineral oil is cheap, perfectly safe and maybe after several days it'll work for you too? I mean it won't hurt to try! And maybe the reason why Dr. Mandell's Video Exercises made my tinnitus worse was because I had a blockage in each ear? I'm not sure but I'm starting to feel a whole lot better now! ....I pray this helps someone else also!

I also forgot to add that I had a pretty bad ear infection and a cold almost two years ago. After that I had several episodes of ringing ears but they only lasted for a few minutes so one day when they never went away I never made a mental connection with the ear infection so it's possible that this originated from that infection? Anyway, I just wanted to add this because I really do pray that my story will help someone else. My heart goes out to each of you!

@Tonya Was your tinnitus based in your ears primarily, or was it also head tinnitus? (head tinnitus being something that feels almost between your ears.)

It was also in my head, or at least it seemed to be and I'm still experiencing this, it's not all gone yet but I'm still working on it. The mineral oil truly is helping and it's the only thing that has. It's funny that you should ask me that question because I've been saying for weeks to my family that sometimes the noise seems to be coming from my brain and not my ears but it's all improving with the oil, it's just a very slow process.

@Tonya Yeah, head tinnitus is hard to explain to people who thinks it’s always ear based.

When you say something dislodged from the mineral oil, did something physically come out of your ears, or was it a sensation of something dislodging?

And thank you for taking the time to reply to my questions, much appreciated!

No, it was more than a sensation because whatever it was, I could feel it inside of my ear and it's still in there but not as large now. The mineral oil seems to be dissolving it and the ringing is still lower but it's not all gone. The other ear also had something dislodge from it yesterday, I could feel my ear pop in a good way and again a little of the ringing went away. I don't want to flush my ears with water yet because I tried that about a week ago and it made my ear ringing worse. I'm just going to continue to use only the mineral oil for a while. My theory is that I must have a build up of hardened wax way down deep that's causing this. And I pray that's all it is because I'm like you and I want this to go away! I wish you the very best of luck fixing your ears, no one should have to go through this and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone.

I wanted to post an update. After using the mineral oil for over a week to loosen up impacted wax that I never knew was there before I started mineral oil, my ears are more open and I started watching and following Dr. Mandell's Video's again. I made a playlist on YouTube of several of his videos and a few others including three form Dr. Alan Fields and I can already notice a difference with the noise in my ears. I have bad allergies also. I couldn't get a doctor to help me so I have to just go at this myself but it's my opinion now after trying several different things for a few months that my tinnitus and the hardened ear wax that I have, originated from Eustachian Tube issues. I think they were just worsened by the ear infection I had a year ago and my allergies and also those horrible forest fires that were going on several months ago. I live in the rural forested part of Washington State and our air was thick and awful for over two months. Again, I'm being descriptive as to help someone else. This problem is awful and I can't wait until it goes away and I think that Dr. Mandell's Techniques will help me to recover but I think it takes time. So to anyone who thinks my story may be similar to yours, do try the mineral oil and do try making a playlist of video's off of YouTube. It's time consuming, it takes a good hour or more a day to go through them all but if it works then it's all worth it! I pray we all have a full recovery.
