Hyperacusis with Pain: What Is Your Sound Tolerance Level?

Recently I had a worsening. I feel as if my tolerance has essentially bottomed out.

I have a studio room in my house that has quite a bit of sound absorption panels of high quality and some cheaper foam that also absorbs. With a sound meter this room is an average of 31.7 dBA.

Today I sat down there with a stopwatch going without hearing protection and I was in pain within 7 minutes.

I was trying to expose myself to a little sound each day. Doing a little bit each hour, but honestly no I am worried even this may be agitating my condition. I've had several occasions now where pain cycles are starting even while plugged up or with ear muffs in areas of my house that are averaging in the 40 dB range. I also had pain while plugged up last night after going to bed. If I give it up to 30 minutes unplugged I get a pain cycle lasting 8-11 hours thus far. I wasn't trying to push it really. The pain is delayed. I usually have no immediate pain. So hard to tell what is and isn't hurting this way.

I didn't sleep much due to a spike in tinnitus from the either Tylenol or a filler of some kind in a new Melatonin I tried. But I normally don't get pain while plugged up when sleeping.

While my pain is mild to stronger moderate it is very distressing that I have no tolerance whatsoever. I've never been this bad. Previously only used hearing protection for loud household activities.

Just curious what others' tolerance is.
