After almost 9 months or so I think I've finally seen enough to say that I've now experienced and consumed everything tinnitus support community and medical community has to offer, like in terms of different discussions and topics, from all sides and views. So I think the circle has been closed. I kinda knew the first day that I am not gonna find an "answer" so to speak, but didn't want to accept it. It's like those first months or weeks you go from doctor to another because you just cannot accept there's nothing that can be done in terms of cure. But you have to go through the process to get it, it's just something you have to do. So in the end, in a way, the good guys were indeed the doctors who said "You just have to get used to it" first time they saw you, who would have known?

But anyway, if I would have to summarize and simplify the whole community in one sentence: people who can justify or find a deeper reason for their situation versus people who cannot. And if I would have to summarize tinnitus with one word (or a couple) from seeing hundres and hundres of discussion by now and just taking the median: quality of life affecting health issue.

With that, I'm gonna retire from tinnitus/hyperacusis/hearing loss related discussion in general, because there's nothing to be said anymore, it's just boring. I guess this is why people leave the community as well (maybe it's a natural phase or a process) because you've already seen, said and read everything there is. Though, I'm not saying that I accept my situation or it has gotten any better, I'll keep fighting until someone day I decide I won't.

And just a note: I'm not posting this because any drama happened or because I'm hurt or anything, I just feel I've consumed enough and heard every angle there is to this issue, from all sides.

After a lifetime of struggling, I’m just starting my circle here. I truly understand your frustration; I’m frustrated every day.

But I think I’m very fortunate in the sense that I’m sitting in my audiologist waiting room as I type this. I know there is no cure and I know it’s driving me insane but she, my audiologist, refuses to give up. Going on 7 years now she does anything and everything to try to help me. If it were not for her, I would have punched my ticket a long time ago.

I’m sorry you haven’t found peace yet, but I hope and pray you find it eventually. Take care.

      Bobby

Yeah, right tomorrow :p because relapse/unhabituation/new damage/any other usual story.

I am still gonna be checking out the forum though from time to time, but I won't be part of the discussion anymore, not about T/H/HL at least. There's nothing and I mean nothing to add or learn anymore about those subjects.

      Thanks though!

Yeah, that's true. Support is important for anybody who needs it, but for me personally, I think I've got everything out of my system. So I guess the community kinda did its job. You could say it gave a bigger picture of my situation and where I stand. So there ain't that "maybe I haven't searched long enough or turned every stone" feeling when it comes to this health issue. Now it's just up to me what I do with all the knowledge.

Thank you! Hopefully one way or another.

Sure but MPP is still original. If you don't want to have discussion on the site in general than it makes sense to lurk. Hopefully I'll still see you around on the online bar.
