I developed pulsating tinnitus when I was in my 1st trimester. I went to see an ENT specialist... He claimed its caused by the pregnancy and will go away once I've had the baby!! The baby is 16mths!!!! I have learned to deal with it, it gets me most if its too quiet... So I develop a love for jazz:) anything other than the sound of gushing blood in my ear works for me!! After reading a lot of the stories I'm ready to see a specialist AGAIN!!! I used to be a smoker and would like to rule out any arterial disturbance!!! I do get constant headache, is that also a thing?!?

Hi, @Donette White,

I have pulsatile tinnitus, too. So sorry you're going through this, and I've heard from so many other women whose PT started during pregnancy. For some, it may go away, and for others, it may linger. And yes, headache may be a side effect of PT.

A couple of questions: (1) Did you have a lot of weight gain during pregnancy, and are you still working on losing that baby weight? (2) Is your blood pressure within normal range?

There is another possibility, too. Your PT could be caused by excess fluid in your body, and could be due to benign intracranial hypertension. It might be good to go to a specialist, such as a neurotologist, to rule out any problems.

It's always possible that yours may fade in time. I've had mine for five years now. Mine was caused by blood pressure meds, and it is still there; however, it is easier to live with now. I guess I've somewhat habituated to it.

Please keep me posted on how you're doing, and on what the specialist says, if you decide to make an appointment.

Best wishes,
Karen
